When it comes to games, I'm pretty eclectic. I love trying a little bit of everything! My tastes range from embarking on exciting RPG adventures to feeling the adrenaline in racing and shooting games. Speaking of which, I can't wait for Starfield to launch – I'm practically counting down the seconds to explore space! 🚀🎮

The Witcher 3, Forza Horizon 5, Gears 5, The Messenger, Celeste, Hollow Knight,

RIMWORLD, rimworld, rimworld, rimworld, BG3, Overwatch, rimworld. Rim and repeat.

Does anyone check the free games on Epic? Right now I just downloaded Europa 4 and The Panic Room, house of secrets. Well, I didn't download, but they are in my library.

I am pretty much into most genres, but I didn't play alot of new PC games due to lack of free time. I mostly play cellphone games, since they are better fitted with fragmentated free time.
I was Blizzard and RTS fan, I played most of the Blizzard games including Starcraft, Warcraft and Diable series.
I also into Sci-fi stuff, have played X-series, freespace, homeworld and many space games I couldn't remember the names anymore.

MagickPanda Yeah, Most of my play time is on my tablet. I have a amazon tablet that I added some files so it can read google play. It's just convenient and I end up doing it for 15 or 20 minutes here and there. The phone is just a little too small for my taste. I'm going to try to write a game for it, or at least see how it works out.

I am messing around with making a ark bounce like game, but seems it's a bit tricky to make the screen/viewport look decent in most mainstream cellphone screens, since they have different resolutions or W/H ratios, and it's not a trivial task to tweak the game playable area size/ratio/ui to match them.

MagickPanda I've got two phones and a tablet to try it on. The resolutions fake you out because they are pretty high, but objects are still pretty small with the screen size so little. I tried to find the best resolution according to bing and it was 1280 by 720.

      I still play Clash Royale

The game's in a bad state, community is dwindling but honestly I don't really care, it's fun.

Aside from that, I play Tears of the Kingdom, Splatoon 2 (Didn't get 3 yet) and Metroid Dread

My problem is that I don't enjoy much playing video games. This makes my inspiration and influences experience very narrow. Therefore I struggle when trying to build games that are actually fun to play because I have no references.

The last games I remember enjoying playing are:

      • Firewatch
      • A short hike
      • Rusty Lake games (love all)

When I was a kid I enjoyed playing MSX (8bits) games

d2clon I have the same problem. Most games don't interest me at all. I thought shooters were kind of cool about 20 years ago or something, but then they seemed like the same thing over and over. I'm not a twitch gamer, so that knocks out a huge percentage.

d2clon sounds to me like you enjoy adventure games/ point n click games (or whatever they're called these days). have you tried any of the stuff telltale made before it went under? those are like modernized versions of that genre.

fire7side I have the opposite problem. how am I supposed to make games when stuff I want to play keeps getting released? for a while there I was relatively safe, but then that retro shooter boom happened and a bunch of indie studios made up of old pros popped up like the guys who made grim dawn and my wishlist expanded by three sizes!

I have very weird tastes in gaming depending on my mood, like if I'm a foul mood, I'll load up a violent fighting game and beat virtual people up (better than that a real one), I also enjoy immersive story driven games.

Back when I was a big PC gamer in the mid to late 90s, I used to play FMV interactive movies a lot.

And FPS games, just to run around and shoot stuff, one of the best I played was the original PC version of Soldier of Fortune, shooting the baddies in the head was a right laugh!

These days, I find myself appreciating almost any game genre. But the last games I finished were Metroid Dread and, before that, Breath of the Wild. I'm saving Tears of the Kingdom for later this year. I've also enjoyed Mario Oddysey ( I didn't get my Nintendo Switch until a couple of years back, so I'm a bit late to the party).

Other than that, I also really loved Ori (and the last entry is on my to play list)...

In contrast to the games above, I'm a huge Halo fan (or I used to be until they made the story a Frankenstein mess by basically rebooting the game every new installment after 343 took over ) and a Metal Gear Solid saga fan. And I've also spent a lot of hours playing Apex Legends.

Sadly, I don't have as much time to play games these days. I'm lucky if I can manage to complete 2-3 games per year. And my Steam library just keeps growing  😅

There are only two niches I'm still interested in actually playing when I have time:

          • From Software titles, because they look like modern games but gameplay feels totally 80s
          • Driving/racing, because, well, real life driving is extremely pleasurable, and doing it virtually adds a benefit of wrecking stuff without consequences 🙂

That said, I'd love to see From's take at some sort of driving game. Now, that would be interesting.

            xyz From Software titles

does this include the just-released Armored Core?

            • xyz replied to this.

LoipesMas Nope, it's too new 🙂. I've put it on the wishlist though. Will probably receive it as a gift at the next sale. No rush.
Have you tried it? How is it?

xyz I can't afford it right now (both in terms of money and time), so I'm also patiently waiting for a sale ;]
I haven't played any of the previous ones, but from what I've seen it's something that I would enjoy

I usually enjoy open world/coop games where you can explore and discover things and maybe build some things, like Valheim, Generation Zero or Enshrouded. And Zelda when I want to play solo.
But sometimes I want something without combat or crafting and with more interesting characters. Then I try new things that might give me this such as Oxenfree or just recently A night in the woods which I really liked a lot. Today I started with Fall of Porcupine.
And from time to time some open world racing like forza horizon, the crew or test drive unlimited.
I guess I always need some exploration aspect.
Now waiting for light no fire and hoping it doesn't suck. 😃

At the moment? BG3. Only BG3. I'm 170 hrs into the game and there is still so much more to do and to see, I can't imagine myself playing anything else for at least a few more months. Except maybe for the occasional round of Carcassonne when I need a quick fix.

I have so many good games on my SteamDeck I haven't even played yet ... I bought a few HumbleBundles and indulged in the Steam sales when I first got the deck (I did not really own a gaming pc or console for many years before that, so I have quite a few really good games to catch up on). The Witcher 3, Skyrim, Protal 1 and 2, Firewatch, Forgotten City, Divinity: OriginalSin 1 and 2, ShadowTactics ... all waiting for me to finally get through Baldur's Gate 3.
