xyz I can't afford it right now (both in terms of money and time), so I'm also patiently waiting for a sale ;]
I haven't played any of the previous ones, but from what I've seen it's something that I would enjoy

I usually enjoy open world/coop games where you can explore and discover things and maybe build some things, like Valheim, Generation Zero or Enshrouded. And Zelda when I want to play solo.
But sometimes I want something without combat or crafting and with more interesting characters. Then I try new things that might give me this such as Oxenfree or just recently A night in the woods which I really liked a lot. Today I started with Fall of Porcupine.
And from time to time some open world racing like forza horizon, the crew or test drive unlimited.
I guess I always need some exploration aspect.
Now waiting for light no fire and hoping it doesn't suck. πŸ˜ƒ

At the moment? BG3. Only BG3. I'm 170 hrs into the game and there is still so much more to do and to see, I can't imagine myself playing anything else for at least a few more months. Except maybe for the occasional round of Carcassonne when I need a quick fix.

I have so many good games on my SteamDeck I haven't even played yet ... I bought a few HumbleBundles and indulged in the Steam sales when I first got the deck (I did not really own a gaming pc or console for many years before that, so I have quite a few really good games to catch up on). The Witcher 3, Skyrim, Protal 1 and 2, Firewatch, Forgotten City, Divinity: OriginalSin 1 and 2, ShadowTactics ... all waiting for me to finally get through Baldur's Gate 3.

Imo the best FOSSFPS https://xonotic.org/
Has active playerbase, not many but on evening can catch people playing on feris.

And from non-opensource games, helldivers2, DRG. As i dont have time in day to play much games but few hours per day i spend with buddies in coop games like that. I saw yesterday the new "FINAL" update drop on Grounded. First play-through was awsome, untill they added swear filter to local games too. Im an adult, and the devs tell me what i can an cannot say in game is just awfull.. Game is beautiful visually and with character animations and in general. Gameplay was fun, exploring new areas was fun too

The older i get, the more i find myself in strategy games. When i was younger i was immersed in open world exploration. I find that arcade style games are the most enjoyment per time spend. Crossy road, when waiting for an appointment, typically is my go to. It's quite enjoyable, a good dopamine release, and seems to assist with maintaining focus with tasks after playing.

i havent played helldivers 2 ever since SNOY incident.... I guess there is nothing to play atm.. so im guess waiting 1 week until DRG season update and in mean time xonotic..

I haven't really gamed competitively for the past... decade(?) now but other than that, I'm not particularly beholden to a genre. If I find something well made and thus fun I play. Well, if I find the time.

Back when I still did game competitively a fun twitch shooter was tremulous. Could play either on the side of h(m)oomins or aliens.

xyz Have attended WCG back in the day - even participated in NFS MW(so must have been WCG 2006) competition, but I didn't mean on a pro level. Just that I don't really play any kind of pvp anymore.

Megalomaniak why not?... i found myself as i got older lacking the reaction time to get them perfect shots in FPS games.. and sometimes things happen so fast (in Xonotic) that i just mostly rely on muscle memory to get "some" frags..

I used to play not publicly competitive but team v team, used to lurk in the IRC for people/teams to play against with our team... games was cs1.6, bootlegged, then we moved to css, bootlegged πŸ˜ƒ. and then as we grew older the other things happened in life and so we split..

kuligs2 The adrenaline is too much for my heart. This is 100% cope. But I genuinely have electrocuted myself in childhood and the heart isn't great. So I can at least use it as an excuse. Truth is the interest in it just kinda waned over time. Probably reaction time too tho.

I've always loved RPG games. Probably such love was because of the open world and large locations to explore. This allows players to move freely around the world of the game, discover new places, fulfill quests and discover secrets. And when I discovered a game like "The Witcher 3" I forgot about the fact that there is something better. But lately because of heavy workload, I can't play "The Witcher 3", but I found a fascinating game on https://royalreelscasinologin.com/ which is called "Book of Shadows". It's also a kind of game that attracts with its gameplay.

In my case I have found myself loving production games that are not excesively complicated like Factorio or recently "The magical mixture mill", but sometimes I go for some short plays of action games. I canΒ΄t stomach open worlds or strategy games anymore due to how time consuming they are, but my goto games that I replay at least once a year are "Dungeon keeper" original for the winter months and "Mission Force Cyberstorm" a criminaly under-rated mech strategy game.
I hate pvp and the likes, it feels to me like really wasted time since there is no point or goal to them.
I guess being a working adult and having so little playtime shapes your tastes.

Myabe i said this before but last few years ive been jaded by the developers where they advertise the game and promise gold while deliver garbage.. lately i found myself playing old games because ther is nothing better to play...

I want to make a game i would like to play πŸ˜ƒ.. hopefully at the end of that journey i will want to play it.. like with everything, when you stare ate it for too long you start to hate it.. i hope that never occurs but then again im flawed.. im human.. i think
