Yep, pretty low res. But the experience is pretty unique. No screens to look at/through.
I got to demo this AR table thing years ago, and it was amazing. Way better than VR. It used a large flat screen 3D TV, I think around 55" or 65", laid flat like a coffee table. You wore 3D glasses, and there was some sort of tracking system (maybe using QR markers on the glasses). I want to say the screen was 1080p. And there were a few game demos on it, like a military one with tanks driving around a city. But it appeared as a real hologram. It was fully stereo 3D, and the objects adjusted as you moved and looked around the table. It was crazy. This is like the real hologram experience everyone wants. Sadly, I can't find a video of it. I recall it was on YouTube, but the product never released, it was just a tech demo.

Nerdzmasterz Just keep in mind that the main cost of VR glasses is the displays and lenses. The price of a high-resolution display is impressive, but it is realistically possible to find one, albeit with difficulty, and where to order production lenses… that's a problem. With low-resolution screens and without lenses, the glasses won't make a proper impression.
But it is interesting and extremely useful for practical experience. ️
Wouldn't it be better to create a separate theme for VR? ️ That would probably be relevant.

cybereality Why not, if it works for you I think that's the most important factor. I've actually been replaying the original Assassins Creed for the past couple of days and was just thinking if perhaps I should recommend you consider that level of graphics. In as far as the architecture is concerned at least, I think it looks pretty decent and shouldn't be too hard to make(model/texture).
It's true, though. What we think would look good might not be your style. IMO, if you find a style you like, run with it.

Okay. I'm all alone in Godot VR, and Unity seems to be more and more of a joke. I mean no disrespect, I used to love Unity, but they changed so much, I can't even implement Unity Ads into games anymore? Plus, learning Unity Ads from the last time I looked was behind a paywall.
So... I guess I can try building PC games or Android with Godot, and Android sounds better as my assets are typically not very high poly... Now, it would be fun and all if I understood anything about the Admob plugins. There are four different ones? I tried one, and got this lovely screen.
I have no idea as to why there are so many toggles here on this test screen, or what it does? I was hoping to just implement rewarded video ads. Can anyone please explain a little of what I'm doing, or to a nice tut?

Yeah, the original Assassin's Creed still has good graphics. I think around then, like Xbox 360 was the peak of gaming. You had games like Fight Night, Assassin's Creed, Modern Warfare, Bioshock, Mirror's Edge, etc. All those games still look good today. And the gameplay itself is not dated, they are all still good, even better than some newer games. So I would be happy with that quality. I guess my issue is I don't have 5 years to work on an indie game. I'd like to ship something with the stable release of Godot 4.0, so I want to scope something that can be completed in 1 year. Which means I will either have to make it a small area (like say one house, something like Resident Evil or Gone Home) or an open world with retro 3D graphics (like GTA 2 or similar PS1 games). But the idea is that I would work on smaller 6 month to 1 year max projects, not invest everything in some 5 year epic game.

Yeah, I've worked of dozens of games, maybe as many as 100 over the last 20 years. I don't really remember actually. Probably the biggest one was a Batman game for Cartoon Network, this was back when Flash was big. Most of my games were 2D Flash, I've only been doing 3D as a hobby. But my recent work is here.

Admob and Godot seems tricky - we’ve had dozens of posts over the years with people having issues.
I wonder if the easiest way to use Admob is using a C# library - but I have no idea how doable it is… I do not have an Android device (and not making mobile stuff at the moment) so I have not needed to investigate.

Personally I prefer the "Bully" type of game/graphic so I set that as my goal for Godot

Yeah, for most of my career I was working on small teams. Usually I was the only programmer, then someone else did the art, graphic design, music, etc. I did go to art school, so I know a bit, but my code is way better than my art. I just like working solo, though, or maybe I will hire freelancers. I don't like just working for companies.

Yeah, I've noticed that. Like the Haunted PSX Disc and stuff like that. It's very popular on Itch, well horror games in general seem to do well there, and the PSX style has been popular recently. I have a few story ideas, but one of them has some psychological horror aspects, so it wouldn't be too far from what is selling.

The ps1 style fits well in the case of a single developer. I agree with Gowydot, horror is the most relevant genre in the style of ps1. Sometimes clumsy graphics give the desired effect in perception.
Yeah, it's a huge problem. I actually don't play free-to-play games at all. If I see that listed, I won't even download and waste my time and money. It's just not worth it. This comes from someone who used to play Counter-Strike (though it was free back then). I must have spent at least like 8 hour a day in that game for like 8 years. I wasted my youth. Much rather pay $30 and play a game for 8 hours, and then get on with my life.
I've also seen the other end as a game developer. One studio I worked at, we released this free-to-play mobile dog game. I guess it was like Nintendogs (around that same time) and you just had a cartoon house and pet the dog, or whatever. The first weekend we launched, someone spent $1,200 USD on dog bones. On a free iPhone game. I don't think you could even use that many bones, the way the timer in the game worked, it didn't make sense. These people have like gambling addictions or something, there is no logical reason to spend over a grand in 2 days on some cheesy dog game. I mean, you could buy a real dog for that money. Or take a trip to Europe, or so many other worthwhile things. I don't know.
Also, game preservation. You can still buy old working consoles, even back to like Atari. Though there are some legal gray areas, emulation is still huge, and you can play almost ever single player game that ever came out on consoles (up to maybe PS2/Xbox, newer than that is kind of glitchy). The best handhelds are from Anbernic, you can find them on eBay and Amazon and Alibaba or wherever.
I have a few of them, this is my favorite, it can play anything PS1 and before (and I mean every single console and arcade game ever).
And sadly, all the games they make now will be lost forever. Console games on disc may be safe, but many mobile and PC games require online services. Even single player games require Steam, Ubisoft Connect, Battlenet, etc. and the games will be dead if the servers are gone. It's really sad.

For example I don't do a VR course and am mainly interested in 3D, which is only part of VR. And as you can see, on VR in general, there are a lot of answers here

I have such a question. Who is Godot project exported so fast to HTML5 or Android? I'm not good at this. But let's say I work on desktop Linux and the engine itself is built for it. But when I export to another platform, the engine should not be reassembled abroad?
Slava Godot export templates are just that, export templates. The executables have already been pre-compiled. Theres nothing to build, it just copies some files from the export template folder over to your project folder.
If you should want a custom executable with a custom icon and whatnot you'll have to go ahead and build your own custom export template then.

The funny part (or sad part) about these outrageous, obviously bogus, conspiracy theories is the project management aspect. Like people talk about COVID being fake. Can you imagine being the project manager on that conspiracy? Or do they have any experience working on teams? It's almost impossible to get like 25 people working at the same company to coordinate properly. So people are saying that somehow tens or hundreds of thousands of government officials, doctors, scientists, the media companies, etc. are all going to be in on it, and all agree, and no one is going to slip up and there won't be a single whistleblower? You'll have a better chance of winning the lottery, or the Earth being destroyed by a meteor, before you can get that many people to agree. It's just dumb.
