Enfora Star - Welcome to read the project's devlog
Yo!
I have finally come up with the name of the game: Enfora Star!
See the blog post the capsule image and more detailed information about the current status of the project.
But, if you are too busy to read the post, here are some samples about the new shooter enemy and the turrets!
Until next time!
TheAspen
Nice, it's taking shape!
The game looks like Void Scrappers by 8bitskulls quite a bit (it is made using Defold engine), the towers on our side are a nice addition.
The demo video shows enemies are very passive and seems to like playing the targets, what the challenge here ?
You may take a look at Transplant, an old Amiga PD game with rotating camera when we turn the ship.
JusTiCe8
We share a very similar game genre, at least.
The shooter enemies are actually very tough ones when they attack in packs; they surprised me a bit, actually.
Also, the challenge with basic enemies will increase when they come in numbers.
And thanks for the old Amiga game! I used to play with Amiga 1200 as a child, so this was a nostalgia hit!
Hi all!
This is a bit of a special occasion because I have just published my 10th blog post! A small milestone, but for me a very major one.
I share some thoughts on how this project is going, what failures I have had, and some future plans also, but the main thing is the showcase video of the current status of the project.
I link the video here:

Congrats on the 10th blog post!
It's nice to see the progress! It's also really cool of you to share some of the challenges you faced.
Hey! Congrats on getting featured!

Heya,
I published a new blog post. Focusing on visual stuff this time.
I publish some development content on the X too, so go on check that also!
Enjoy reading, until next time!

Yo!
I just uploaded a gameplay video.
Maybe this shows current progress a bit better than just plain text and a few gifs.

TheAspen Maybe it's better when playing than when only watching a video but... I get really disoriented because most of the time there is no "fixed" background against which you can gauge your movement direction and speed. Powerups and those big structures help a bit. But powerups are too similar to enemies and the large structures are not always there. Additional background parallax adds to the confusion even more.
Maybe think about adding optional gridlines (or a hexagonal grid) that are tied to the fixed world space. They could be subtle but prominent enough to inform player's perception on their movement direction.
TheAspen Nice to see the game taking shape!
The hexagon definitely makes the movement/orientation better, but it also feels a bit distracting. The asteroids/comets are a bit static, having them move a bit more (and use the stars/suns in the background as they are) would give it some more depth.
the suns/stars also feels a bit dim/dark. But making them brighter would probably make them distracting as well.
Just some initial thoughts looking at the latest progress
MikeCL
Thanks for the comment!
That hexagon really seems to divide people. You are not the first one who said it is a bit distracting. Maybe I could add more opacity to it and see how it plays then. The hexagon is also optional, so you can disable it from settings if you do not like it.
I also think the asteroids are too static right now. Let's see how it works out if I add more speed to the parallax layer.
Yo!
More updates of Alpha! See the newest blog post here:

Nevertheless, the devlog almost has a birthday! One year ago I published the very first post. Some thoughts about that in the blog too!
Thanks!

Hi once again!
Yet another blog post regarding the upcoming Alpha gametest! Nothing huge this time, but some thoughts about the Steam and feature progress list.

Yo! A huge announcement!
Steam pages are finally here:
Go check it out and give your opinion!
Back in 2024, I would never believe this day could actually come.
Playable Alpha is under review by Steam, so it should be there in a couple of days.
TheAspen
The Alpha Gametest is now live!

Go and give it a shot! You can also provide feedback here if you want!
TheAspen
Nice! Just tried it! Landed on a score of 420. Game feels super smooth
Some feedback.
- Would be nice with some background music just to get into the mood a bit more.
- The big rocks in the background feel a bit static, perhaps make them move a bit more with the paralax. Then you have some pretty good depth. Like the stars/suns in the far background, the rocks closer, then the smaller rocks even closer etc.
- The smaller sun to the left feels low resolution compared to the rest.
- Feels a bit strange to need to manually trigger next wave. Perhaps just start next wave automatically to keep the pace up.
- I have a superwide monitor, feels like the background is stretched.

where the penguin?
Also, in your company web page it sounds like the company consist of many people team.. how many people worked on this project?
kuligs2
This works on Linux. I have used Manjaro for the development by time to time, so the overall support for Linux should be a relative easy to achieve. But, because this was (and still is) my very first game on Steam, I decided to go with ease and officially support only Windows, at least for the start.
This is a solo-development process, so only I have worked on with this. It just sounded funny to use "Me" instead of "We" on the company's homepage.
Nice to hear that you give this a shot!
Background music was on the list, but I had not enough time to finish that so I had to cut it out from the Alpha. Overall, it isn't that crucial for the game testing. But I agree, it definitely needs some music on the background.
Good to hear that background get stretched with superwide monitors, I think I need to do some resolution settings or such.
Thanks for the feedback! Good points there!
Yo! A new devlog post is published on my blog!
Check out the new enemies there!
Gametest is still ongoing on Steam, so feel free to try out Enfora Star!
And of course, if you have already joined the game test, go and give it another try !
On X and Bluesky you can find related content too!
Cheers!
