To add to things said above - Flarum really has a pleasant layout/functionality.
I only with the code pasting problem gets fixed once and for all... or at least addressed in an easily linkable faq. I'm looking at you @MikeCL 🙂

xyz Oh that reminds me that I wanted to write an FAQ/newbie guide for weeks now.

i know people. i like watching regulars come and go and seeing how the forum changes. watching stuff change over a long time is one of my favorite parts of living.
for the most part, however, it's habit: wake up, make a mocha, open firefox, "godotforums.org".

What I don't like about this forum is the software that's used.

The search feature is terrible. It's even difficult to find my own old posts.

The notifications are also bad. I get multiple email notifications for the same event. And the notifications drop-down shows both read and unread notifications. I have to scroll through it, hovering over the items to see which ones are new.

Of the various types of forum software I've used, I prefer the phpBB style.

Finally someone who can appreciate the entropy of the universe.

DaveTheCoder The search feature is terrible

Oh yeah, that is true, I noticed this as well.

DaveTheCoder And the notifications drop-down shows both read and unread notifications. I have to scroll through it, hovering over the items to see which ones are new.

I don't have any issues with that, I just click on each notification to get me to the specific source and then the notification no longer shows up as new.

The problem is that you waste time clicking on ones you've already seen. And there are duplicates (posted, replied to your post, liked your post, reacted to your post, selected your post as best answer).

It would be better if unread notifications were shown separately, and notifications for the same event were merged.

I tend to accidentally click on tbe unread notification user's name and get a list of posts he made, rather than the unread thread he just replied to me or my thread, which is kinda confusing.

MagickPanda How?!! The notifications for me here only link to the relevant topic/post. Like, I just tried to intentionally click on the user name in the notification and it still just took me to the relevant message. Or do you mean on discourse forums and not here?

MagickPanda Note that the new forum.godotengine.org is discourse based and many others like blenderartists.org or devtalk.blender.org. Perhaps you were mixing things up with some of those.

            18 days later

award I was looking for someone asking the same question, I would describe myself as an intermediate programmer with bad fundamentals so I mostly ask questions I don't use the Godot reddit because is filled with "super beginners" and spam posts about the godot's logo, for some reason these people can't sleep at night thinking about the logo xD.

I prefer this forums UI and categories over the forum.godotengine.org UI but I much prefer their search functionality it even search related post based on your tittle while writting the post, that's very useful to stop beginners from spamming the same questions, heck even for me.

If it is a small question I used to ask in the discord, but I don't like the sensation of being washed away by the other users like if I was lost in the ocean. I recently learned people can make threads like forum's post in there too, the community is spread so thin...

My questions are a bit more involved so most people are not willing to give up their time like that, understandable, but I see it as a numbers game and spreading Godot's small community thin makes it feel like there's less chances someone may reply to your post, and I feel filthy copy pasting the same post on 3 different websites.

On a side note, I had a bad experience with this forum because one or two of my post dissapeared because of a server issue never to be seen again, not a huge problem for me, but could happen to someone bigger. But I have to say in this forum I've had really good and involved answers, thanks everyone.

I love this forum and im extremely greatful to @MikeCL for keeping this going :-D

I never liked that discourse crap, it bugs the hell out of me everytime im forced to use it.

The forum software used here is fantastic! and i'm able to use it very proficiently!!

The people here are very experienced and helpful people as well and I plan to come by as i am able in order to help others and give back as well

I reallllllllllllllly wish the Godot Organization would just send everybody here but everybody wants their own way of communicating like chat or discord etc. so i can see why they chose to make their own forums but godotforums.org is the best imho :-)
