More than 20 years ago, when I first connected a second monitor and my daughter was still a child without her own computer, I would play children's films and cartoons for her on the second monitor while I worked on the first. These were still CRT monitors. But this was a very unusual use and not very convenient.

I tried offering possible explanations but you just decided that "nah, I wouldn't do that, therefore no one else would either". This discussion of "no one would ever have Blender open next to Godot (or any other game engine I suppose)" is completely silly and I feel like I am taking crazy pills that we are actually talking about this.

And yes, it's a marketing shot, no one is denying that. But who cares? That wasn't the point.

I really like the look of the cube. I'm still looking for something small that fits on my desk, does use some easy to use Linux, allows me to play games and use Discord and Godot. I wonder if 16GB Ram is enough.
I probably could build something like that myself with some mini pc, but I'm lazy. And I would need 2 of those. 1 for the tv and 1 for "work" at my desk.

The hardware might be as good as the one I'm currently using, which is good enough for me.
And this would be a good opportunity to get rid of my consoles I'm not using anyway.

trizZzle i envision it being too expensive compared to self built PC.. Maybe for americans its cheaper, but for the rest of the world, where you gotta pay import tax, sales tax and shipping tax.

kuligs2 Building a pc yourself is probably always cheaper. But to be honest, I don't have the skills and patience to set up everything neatly in such small cases. I managed to hurt my fingers too many times building midi towers.
My last pc was the first one I ordered prebuild. It cost around 10% more than setting up everything myself, which was totally fine for me as I don't enjoy doing this as much as I did over 25 years ago and my fingers thanked me. 😃

Im looking forward for the controller and VR headset, no that i have much or any room to flail my arms around in VR.. it might be at the same price as index. As for controller, they could go for 70 bucks but i hope its cheaper than that..

kuligs2 Do you have the old steam controller? I never tried it, but I'd like to have a new controller.
I have an old and a new XBox Controller, but both are pretty uncomfortable for me, they are slightly too big.
But there is no way to put the steam controller into your hands before buying.
Do you by any chance own both and can tell me if the steam controller is a bit smaller? 😅

trizZzle the new controller is not buyable atm. No i dont own steam old controller, i was too late to the firesale of it. I was not so keen on touchpads.. the new one has the glowsticks tad supposedly dont get stuck in drift so im curious.. other even chinisium type controllers featuring these types of sticks are at the same western price range 70bucks.. thats too much for so little..

i personally use wired gamepad that you cant buy anymore unfortunately.

I have a collection of controllers, i would say PS4 was the most comfortable, But i used it too much that the battery is ded.. I dont own PS4 - it was bought for PC gaming.. and btw, it was chinisium not original.. i played BOTW on the original switch on it. And other games back in those days.. nowadays i use gamesir cuz i dont have to worry to charge it hours before use, and i can just plug and play..

Its smaller than xbone controller i think.. it feels better in my hands.. Better than xb360.. no tilt sensors tho.. but for 20bucks it was worth it..

kuligs2 The PS1 controller was the most comfortable for me so far. 😁 After that I didn't own any other playstation.
But I believe the PS4 one is pretty similiar in size/shape. Thx for the recommendation, I will have a look at that controller.

trizZzle trust me, you dont want to use ps1 controller when there are these options in the market.. You are just having nstalgic memories influencing your decision. And there is no contest, ps4 controller is pretty comfortable in comparison to ps3. PS5 is similar..

Alright , the controller came in.

First impressions - build quality is superb. Thick heavy plastic. Similar to PS4 maybe thicker.
Smooth slippery button so jou dont get hurt swipe-pressing them.
Nice clicky thick sound, not like IBM keyboard but thonk type click..

Sticks have rubber tops so finger dont slip.

Cable not detachable.

Dpad is onepiece - idk, for my usecase good enough.

Suprisingly its small compared to the T4 and xbox and switch pro controllers. while switch pro is smaller than xbox controller, this feels nice in my hands.

Havent tested in games,

For less than 20 bucks this feels incredible. Not tested in games yet

kuligs2 I tested the controller in game. Feels as any other controller.
Sticks are light, easy to move.
But... the back buttons underneath the grips are annoying for my fat hands.. I keep pressing them buttons when i dont indtend to because of gripping the controller.. idk.. looks like the back buttons are not for me.

Works on lunix out of the box, if anyone wondered..

A couple of weeks ago I bought an 8bitdo Pro 3 and so far that thing is excellent! It also has the Playstation stick layout, which I prefer, and extra buttons on the back.

Toxe i got too many wireless gamepads, thats why i got this with wire, and hall effect sticks.

I hope that valve one will cost less than 40bucks, as 8bit can get away with this price with all the detailed things they put into the controller.

If its gon be 130 buck - fogetaboutit
