Well the machine they said in the video is as powerful as 6x steam decks, so maybe the steamdeck price x3? 🙂 look at the last steam VR hardware how expensive it was, this will be a bit more expensive because of the economic state in the world with all the DRAM shortages and AI price fixing.
And the gooners wont have the "console" experience, unless steam stop messing with proton and force developers to press that "export to linux" button in their Unreal Engine5 editors.. until then, the steam machine enjoyers will suffer the same fate as the rest of PC gamers on lunix, some games will work, some wont.
As a business its smart idea to create ecosystem with your own hardware - consoles are still hanging on, valve just has the edge because of steam and, they have money to test the waters.. MS and other companies are too deep in barely making margins on the investments they keep shutting down studios and even game consoles - google stadia? 😃
If the machine is priced at 300 bucks, then is a big win for consumers.. anything more its on the the same balance as gaming rig, which you can always upgrade and not wait for valve to engineer a GPU swap for that specialized box in your livingroom.
