Long term Unity dev here, Torque before that!
Just thought to say hi.

Been trying some things in Godot, and looks so refreshing.
So really looking forward to move to Godot pastures, and feeling the thrill that used to feel on gamedev 🙂

For now, I will start looking around, learning and seeing how feasible it is to get a job in Godot.

Cheers!

As far as i know Godot is an opensource project, contribute for free at your own pace, maybe im wronk but not sure.

    Welcome aboard mate!

Tomcat TBH that topic is so old, for new users that would start reading it from the beginning it'll probably be difficult with the posts showing old formatting from the simple machines forum of old.

Megalomaniak It is possible to create a new topic "Lets introduce ourselves 2!". And the "ribbon" design of the forum is inconvenient in principle and it will quickly get clogged with such topics, which is even worse. The best thing, of course, is to tell a little about yourself by introducing your project in #Projects.

SMF is an interesting thing. What are its disadvantages?

Tomcat disadvantages - oldschool. It gives me flashbacks to the times where every conversation was in some sort of this kind of forum... idk.. i like this website design, its something different, easy to use

With this design, old themes get lost quickly. It is convenient for social chat, but for a forum of similar topics the classic form is more suitable.

          And creepy search, of course.

I suppose this is more of a social chat then! Thats what I like. But I agree, post disappears quickly and search is garbage.

Novack Welcome to the forums! As for jobs- we might be a year off. I got an interview once for a company making games for casinos. Their whole thing was they had to use open source software to be properly audited (b/c gambling was involved). They assumed no one knew godot so they just tested C#... which is unfortunate for me- didn't do the greatest on that.
