where did the extra males come from and where did the females go? That's assuming that:

Young men commit suicide at four times the rate of young women.

So many questions. I'd like to see more numbers by group.

      as for the article, i do have thoughts:
      2000s-2010s celebrity culture screwed some people's view on what average looks like for the opposite sex. people who's attraction are based on physical traits alone, no longer have to be disappointed at every turn, so long they're open to the idea of replacing flesh with pixels.
      people who can't connect with other people in any meaningful way, no longer have to talk to inanimate objects anymore, and they don't even have to get a cat.
      people who want someone to confide with, but don't trust things with free will, they too now have an option that speaks english, and they too no longer have to get a cat.
      computers were invented to solve problems back in 194X and have done almost nothing but that since then, so this seems a very natural next step to me. it's a problem, and we have the silicon to solve (or treat) it.

              This article had me laughing all the way through. My first thought was, where are these awesome girlfriends, I want one! Then I thought about how I'd react to anyone constantly texting me. They seem to be very realistic in that respect, and that they're mostly after young men with more money than sense.

              Actually, this is probably true, but it's completely misleading since they're only talking about marriages. Young women might be attracted to older men for financial security, so they'd want to get married. When older women go after younger men, neither of them is likely to be interested in marriage.

              Anyone who thinks that marriage is a sure cure for loneliness hasn't seen many marriages.
