Godot tutorials ?

One up-to-date with the 4.0 gdscript changes would be cool for a newcomer, I think. The examples in the latest branch of the docu are partly out of sync.

But I wanted to rant:
Vulkan is a mess 😖

Nerdzmasterz Is 4.0 free of bugs yet? I would avoid it until it is.

No, it's still alpha software but it works okay.

Nerdzmasterz Is 4.0 free of bugs yet?

Well, if you don't consider it a mistake

Tomcat Tried to experiment. Importing into Godot 3.4.4 and 4.0 the same Blender file with animation:

But it's very sad because in 4 the animation editor is improved.

I would avoid it until it is.

Very reasonable in my opinion.

I can't really test 4.x until they fix this issue. I have a small screen and old eyes, so I've probably got the largest font settings of anyone using godot. However, since we won't get web support immediately, I'm not motivated to use 4.0 anyway. 🙂

4.0 does look great, it just needs some more TLC. It will get there. 🙂

packrat Is it normal that I get logged out after roughly a hour since the website went back up?

No. I only ever logged in once, when we first switched over. Do you have plugins that erase your cookies or something? You might have to whitelist the domain.

duane I can't really test 4.x until they fix this issue.

To be honest, "1920x1080 screen" is extremely small. Today's serious programs have a lot of options that just won't fit on a small screen even if you try to categorize them. We get too many categories. IMHO

I logged in once a few days ago and have not yet logged out… Maybe some settings in your browser?

Seems like a critical bug to be open so long, and still not fixed on 4.0, but at least they are working on it.

      Bimbam o.O
Last time I checked, the overwhelming majority of devices are still 1080 or less, even gamers:

I am of the opinion that there is a difference in requirements between users/players and developers/creators. For example, it is recommended to develop the game on a computer level higher than the recommended for maximum quality of this game. Well, that's how I was taught…

Just open the list of video cards there and try to find the Quadro... Are they being played on? But who's going to argue that Quadro is better for c 3D work?

I was never taught, but as we're talking about a desktop apps UI rather than the game itself, I defer to this as what I would consider a good practice:

        https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/apps/design/layout/screen-sizes-and-breakpoints-for-responsive-design

While I would certainly recommend any developer (or anyone really) upgrade to 4k, the practical reality is most devices aren't, and you want your app to be accessible to the biggest market.

;tldr the app should cater to its users, the user shouldn't have to cater to the app (unless explicitly required)

Anyway Duane's bug looks like it may be resolution agnostic as the interface is extending beyond its visible window (which is bad lol)

1080p is still very popular, even new higher end laptops often come at 1080p resolution. And cheaper laptops can sometimes be lower than 1080p. It is common that developers own larger screens, or multiple screens, but this is not a guarantee, particularly with a free engine like Godot that is going to attract people on low spec devices. So I am unsure how this bug could go on for so long, though I admit I have used Godot on my 1080p laptop and I didn't notice any problems, so maybe it is an odd edge case.

Though I don't especially like Microsoft as a company, they do have some of the best documentation.

Tomcat But who's going to argue that Quadro is better for c 3D work?

Because Autodesk products throw a warning if you don't? or because of an actual CBA of price vs. performance.

If the latter, I'm betting Quadro loses.

Last time I checked, Quadro cards were just nerfed GTX cards with expensive firmware that business latch onto for the 'enhanced reliability', support and VMs, not the performance which was always sub par (to the point where you could swap bioses on them for as much as a 50% speedup).

Bimbam I was never taught, but as we're talking about a desktop apps UI rather than the game itself, I defer to this as what I would consider a good practice:

            I'll just leave it here

            Recommended

            • 2560×1440 display

              Tomcat

And their minimum target is 1080p (while still being entirely usable on 1366x768 as for a while that was my laptops screen size). So my point stands.

                Bimbam I'm betting Quadro loses.

Quadro was always bogus and a cash grab to exploit corporate clients. Back in the day, there was a soft-mod you could do that would turn like a $200 gamer card into a $4000 Quadro, and performance was the same. It's the same reason many cloud services have a free tier for individuals but charge you like $500/month if you work at a corporation. The product is the same, but they charge what they think people will pay. Or when the price says "Please Inquire" and they look up the market cap of your company and divide by 10 to tell you the cost. It's all just a game.

Is it possible to reverse RTX into Quadro?

                  Bimbam So my point stands.

The point of view that it's better to work behind a small monitor? Sorry I don't share it. I guess the text ejection bug (which is a bug) will be fixed but the suffering won't stop there.

I would like to know more about it
