Having trouble creating a simple MeshInstance3d as there seem to be no textures

KarloSnajder Try adding only a mesh instance node in an empty scene, to make sure that the problem is not with other nodes. Next, check if engine is reporting any errors in the output window, and next, try switching the renderer from "Forward+" to "Compatibility".
The default material on the default gray box doesn't have any textures btw. The outline box you see is a collision shape.

Dam... running in "Compatibility" mode works fine and seems to solve it...

I guess ill try to do my project in that mode instead of "Forward +".
But is my setup really that bad that it couldnt handle "Forward +"?? I guess my CPU is a bit on the older/weaker side. If i end up upgrading it any time soon ill return to this question and let everyone know.

It seems that the system is trying to run Godot on the video built into the CPU. Try forcibly switching to a discrete card.

The fact that it runs in Compatibility but not in Forward is a sign that the problem is something with the gpu and/or its driver.

godot games should be able to run on steam deck, so what is your cpu?

Latest AMD drivers are fu**ed, I reverted to 25.6.2 and Forward+ renderer works again

Timetravel_ Well the issue is then between Godot and AMD's Vulkan driver. Strange that the engine is not reporting any Vulkan errors.

I can reproduce the same problem as OP, with the same steps, as well as with a scene with a single MeshInstance3D with new box mesh.
Specs are:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 6-Core Processor
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT
Graphics drivers are latest as of 15/08/2025

EnterVimMode It works on nvidia, i get material.

Everyone praises AMD but amd has more problems than solutions. Ofc its not worth what mf ask for premium nvidia, but from personal experience better still use nvidia.
