SnapCracklins It's a bit hard to say. Depends on the quality of the game and how hard are you pushing marketing? Do people know about the game already?
Selling anything in todays climate is hard if you don't have a brand in place or provide a lot of value upfront. But in general I think your idea is good. Try to provide as much value as possible and get those early adopter/fans that will support you.
Just throwing an idea out there. If the game is getting close to completion, release a short, polished demo as promotion (get streamers and YouTubers to play the game to spread awareness) and then sell digital art, music etc alongside it. this way:
- you get peoples curiosity by giving the opportunity to check out the game. (you bring value upfront without people risking money on an unknown brand)
- For those that like it and want more, you provide value that you can sell ahead of game release.
But with this I think it's important you engage with your community and grow it over time.
Just my 2 cents.
