  • (Resolved)Can forum allow to upload the godot project sample for checking codes?

Hello. Currently, I need to post a minimal reproduction project with source codes to the forum, to be reviewed and checked for error bugs. However I can not upload a Zip file, nor all the files under the Godot project folder or the whole project folder.

So I want to ask if there are any good ways to post my project sample copy, so that members on this forum can help me to review?

I appreciate for kind help on this from my heart.

Capixo However I can not upload a Zip file

You are not uploading a zip, but a .rar file — these are slightly different formats.

Here is my thread with the .zip file uploaded.

RAR-archiver allows you to choose .zip or .rar archive format.

      Tomcat
Oh, yes. I was trying to upload file in RAR format instead of in Zip format. I appreciate you pointing out my mistake.

        kuligs2 why use rar?

Finally the time has come to out myself: I like winrar and purchased a license 😀
I mean it's like coke or pepsi, or not?

kuligs2 also delete .godot folder inside the zip - why use rar?

RAR may exclude specified files and folders when creating an archive. It has very large capabilities. Unfortunately, not many people know about it. And it works fully functional without purchasing a license.

Tomcat idk, rar seems to be sus, given that its not open source. been using 7zip on binbows, and whatever linux distros has, havent had problems or need for "special functions"... excluding files or folders - using desktop env. is easy - just select what you need ? 😃.

kuligs2 ~ 20 years ago when I was a poor student there were "some ways" to download games and the downloads most of the time where split into dozends of rar files. Somehow I sticked to winrar.

Well, it can be called a disadvantage.

I became familiar with RAR's capabilities recently when I needed to quickly and extensively make project archives. Then I discovered that RAR can create a shortcut on the desktop that allows you to make a customized archive with a single click. It creates an archive that excludes unnecessary folders (.godot) and automatically adds the time in the name — for me this was very handy. I realize that for Linux users this sounds strange and incomprehensible. But Win users are used to comfort and appreciate the opportunity to save time.

is easy - just select what you need ?

Yeah, “Jedem das Seine” or as we say, “Everyone chooses for himself a woman, a religion, a road.”

Interesting! I knew only about the date time in the name. Will try this too! Saves me 2 clicks. 🙂

That's what I'm talking about — apparently no one knows the full capabilities of rar. 😿

Are you here talking about rar the program or rar the file format? Because afaik the file format is pretty much similar to zip and stuff that can be done with the program you can do that and any other imaginable thing using rarfile module for python, or, analogously, zipfile module for zip files. Presuming you're capable of basic python coding.

This is the very reason why Linux will never (for the foreseeable future for sure, and probably not at all) replace Windows. And it will not even catch up in the number of users.

Tomcat oh.. you just wait for billy boi to make the critical decision, and people will jump ship.. We saw increase in linux after the win 7 - 10 and 10 to 11 upgrade.. now that MS is pushing the ads and other privacy intruding apps, people will start to wake up..

Im waiting for linux people to fix them GPU drivers once and for all.. i cant jump ship just yet otherwise i would have done it years ago..

Ofc.. there were sound problems too because im still using pci sound cards.. 😃

2024 might not be year for linux desktop, its not that far away from reality. Also we need is to game devs to make games using engines that can compile binaries for linux too.

kuligs2 oh.. you just wait for billy boi to make the critical decision, and people will jump ship..

Oh, that's a very valid point — Linux can't and won't adapt to user requirements. And it treats those who don't know programming with arrogance and contempt. Example above. Therefore, it can only count on its competitor's mistakes, not on its own convenience and achievements.

We saw increase in linux after the win 7 - 10 and 10 to 11 upgrade..

Also a good point. The question is, how many have switched? In percentages and absolute numbers? How has the ratio of users changed? Within the statistical margin of error?

now that MS is pushing the ads and other privacy intruding apps, people will start to wake up..

Have you abandoned Steam yet? A system that collects more private data than M$ could ever dream of — and people are using it. Why would they abandon Win?

I've got bad news, the most heavily monitored system ever developed is based on Linux. And a lot of people are using it too.

Intel is behind M$. To crush Win, you have to start communicating with the hardware manufacturer

“The people are gray but wise” and they're not going to wake up.

Tomcat this is going off topic, but i frankly dont care what steam collects, because the statistics are available for everyone. I care what windows collects because its all a secret, and only benefits MS.

And yes, since steam has started to enforce or employ reddit mods to silence people, and free speech, i am not investing into steam no more..

All of the software i use at home is open source in some way, so there is no reason for me personally to stay with MS, once they deploy the next windows version.. i hope linux will be ready by that time, for people with multi monitor, multi resolution, multi refresh rate desktops 🙂

kuligs2 but i frankly dont care what steam collects, because the statistics are available for everyone.

You don't care, but I do. Do you have guarantees that all statistics are “available for everyone”? That they don't collect more than they claim? Is it possible to refuse to collect statistics?

There are people who are more responsible with their privacy.

It won't. Rather osFree will be brought to a working state.

Same could be said about - do you have a passport? how can you trust government to not use your information.. nobody can be trusted.. you choose whats best for you.. OS free - well good luck.. linux is just a kernel not an OS 😃, and is pretty much what you mean, but people need inteface to use machines.. thats why OS exist..
