    Gen AI is overhyped. True artists or anyone who takes creative seriously (like many people here) doesn't need Gen AI.

    IMO, it's useful to use Gen AI tech to help with research (i use Perplexity a lot). But we shouldn't let Gen AI replace our minds and definitely should not let it ruin games we love.

      gg_games gen AI is not only about images or text, you could use for instance to train the AI to generate your levels using your assets, or maybe enemy behaviour.. etc etc.. i would love to see people use "AI" for these things.. because human crafted levels are getting too bland.. look at D4, or some modern games.. its too boring and predictable..

        i threw up reading this, violently. i regurgitated against my will with upward force comparable to god, powered by nothing but sheer disgust at what you're suggesting.

        I saw "monetization" and "AI" in a gaming blurb and didn't even bother reading it.

        Gamers get nickel and dimed enough.

        Also, even AI-generated levels will get predictable before long. There's already cases of AI becoming lazy and we're on LLMs. In addition, AI has to be trained on EXISTING content. So if you train it on microtransactions and generic level design, guess what it spits out? Crap in, crap out. It's going to be hilarious when AI runs out of data to eat in a couple of years time. Oh yes. That's a thing.
