DJMaesen the easiest way is to take the head and count how many heads tall is the character.
it depends on the level of stylization you want. for example, mario is 3 to 4 heads tall.
a real human is 6 heads tall, this can go up to 6.5 and 7 heads tall. at 8 heads tall are the "heroic" proportions, for really tall people.
in your case the character is 6 heads tall, which is the minimum for a realistic character. but where the heads end is also important.
the second head must go down to the chest. the third must go down to the belly, starting at the belly button. the fourth must start at the crotch.
finally, the legs can have from 2 to 3 heads and more if the character is taller.
the fifth head usually goes down to the lower middle of the thigh, the sixth sits over the knee, and half the lower leg, and the seventh can go down to the end of the feet, or if the character is taller, there will be more feet.
you can also just use a reference when modeling to know where every part must be at, or a basemesh if sculpting.
xyz So I go with the simple rule of thumb: 4 heads for the upper body and 4 heads for legs. Easy to remember and measure and looks good.
that would be heroic proportions, and he is trying to do realistic. so 6.5 to 7 heads would be better.
