We started this project as an experiment "we'll try a proof of concept in Godot 4, and then we'll see where it leads". Eventually, it led to the conviction that Godot is excellently suited for the creation of similar games. 🎉
Our point-and-click adventure game is 50% complete, and we plan to release the full game by the end of Q2 2024. So hopefully, nothing will delay us. 😎

Congrats, and good luck on the final half of development!

axolotl Thank you! We will do our best.

Best of luck! Love the art style!

OK, so … Q2 has shifted to Q3, but there will be no further delays, and I’ve definitively set the release date for September 20, 2024. The game is running on Godot 4.2.2 (switching to Godot 4.3 at the last minute would be too risky), and we are very happy with the results. I hope you will be too. 😎

Fencer Looks gorgeous, great atmosphere. Wishlisted.

          xyz Thank you!

kuligs2 It's planned. So is the Mac one.

xyz Both of us. We are a team of two guys, and we both do programming. Besides that, I am responsible for music, sound effects, story, dialogues, and localization. My colleague creates all the graphics with a little help from AI.

Fencer did you use open source software for 2d art and sound mixing/design? Im always curious how "mortal" people make stuff in production 🙂

kuligs2 Yes, I suppose so. Stable Diffusion and GIMP for 2D, Blender for some 3D. Audacity for the sound effects. But I composed all the music in Logic Pro, which isn't open source. I just don't want to get used to another DAW, and since I already own this one, why not use it?

Fencer I'd be interested to hear about the scale of the game. How many play hours will the final release have? Also how many locations?

xyz Of course! Here it is:

                  • 5 chapters, including 1 intro, 4 “meanwhile” cutscenes, and 1 epilogue
                  • 73 locations
                  • 38 characters to interact with
                  • 500 pages of text
                  • a soundtrack with 34 original compositions
                  • 30 Steam achievements
                  • and, hopefully, an interesting and thrilling story

As for play hours, we had several people with varying levels of experience with adventure games test the game, and I could say that completing one chapter takes an average of two hours, so the entire game takes about ten hours. Of course, it also depends on whether the player diligently reads all the texts and explores various dialogue options. Who plays the game for the first time and tries to get all the achievements almost certainly won't finish it in one day.

I am pleased to announce that our game, the point-and-click adventure Whispers of Prague, has just been released on Steam. It costs only $10 (well, $9.99), so if you'd like to support a small indie studio, whose two members are already thinking about their next project with equal enthusiasm, this is a great opportunity for you. 😎 We are grateful to everyone who does so, and even more grateful if you leave a nice review. The game is fully localized in both Czech and English.

What else can I say about the game? There's plenty:

                  • The story is divided into five chapters, introduced with a short intro and wrapped up with a slightly longer epilogue. Additionally, we’ve squeezed in four cutscenes between the chapters to supplement certain plotlines.
                  • The game takes place across 73 locations, not all of which are immediately accessible. Some are unlocked only after completing specific tasks, and one is so secret it has its own achievement for discovery.
                  • The main character will encounter 38 other characters on their journey, with whom they can engage in conversation, uncover important information, or just chat to get their opinions on various items carried in their backpack.
                  • The game is a bit text-heavy – with about 500 standard pages of text, equating to roughly a million characters. Of course, it’s not necessary to read all of it, as a good portion is related to optional actions. However, if you want to uncover as many story details as possible, don’t hesitate to click on everything and try things you wouldn’t normally think of during regular gameplay.
                  • What would an adventure be without a captivating soundtrack? The music accompanying the game experience features 34 original tracks, which will later be available as DLC.
                  • For those who aren’t satisfied with simply following the shortest path through the story, there are 30 achievements to earn in the game. Some are easy, while others require a bit more effort to unlock.

Did we catch your interest, even just a little? Then don’t hesitate, try out Whispers of Prague. Thank you for any support. 😎

Finally! It took almost two weeks, but Steam has finally confirmed that I can release the soundtrack to our game Whispers of Prague. It's 34 tracks in WAV and MP3 format. I used to release music on Spotify and similar streaming platforms, but this time I took a different route, and the album is available only on Steam. For now.
