Time for round 2.
I'll try to add some improvements. But don't expect too much. The law of diminishing returns is relentless 🙂
I was looking for ways to add more variety into crown silhouettes. There's this thing pretentiously called superformula. It's a periodic polar equation whose plot can produce a large variety of organic looking shapes, all from the same, relatively simple equation, just by changing 5 (or 7) parameters. Kind of amazing what can be squeezed out of it. So if you're doing any kind of procedural generation, take note, because this looks like a really useful tool.
The drawback is that it is somewhat unwieldy. The input parameters are unintuitive, affecting each other in unpredictable ways. So the best approach to control this thing is to fix most of the parameters in a place that produces certain class of shapes, and then slide one or two to get variations.
I'll see if this can be exploited for more diverse silhouettes.
