about these new default icons

how many other people think they look kind of horrifying? it's not just me, right? something about them is really off-putting. like a kid's show that's unintentionally traumatizing.

samuraidan I don't mind the new avatar (actually I like it), except that the same one is used as the default for all new users until they customize it. Weren't new users previously given distinct default avatars?

I wouldn't say it looks kind of horrifying… but, yeah, it is misleading. It would probably make more sense to make the default avatar simpler. To make them slightly different… the way it was before — not bad at all.

DaveTheCoder it was the same godot face silhouette but with different shades of color. I remember it well because I never bothered to use a custom one until this new one popped up today.

It wouldn't be bad if it wasn't the default, but it's just unique enough to look weird when it's repeated too much. You need something a little more generic.

I was also terrified but mostly because at first I thought it was one freaky freak posting tons and tons of times XD

Yeah, I agree. But the creepiness of Godot's icon is normal in the eyes of the Godot community. Let it be!

As you see, nothing too extraordinary about it... This is just how the Godot community operates... 🙃
