I plan to make a 2d fighting game, and I will need to animate the characters sprites. I have decent but not so great experience with sprite animation, honestly I am more into coding.

This can be accomplished in two different ways:
•Traditional sprite character animation(basically what I said);
•By using "limbs" to animate the characters, in a way similar as Brawlhalla does, if that makes sense.

I want to know what are some pros and cons of both, and if someone can share a playlist on YouTube on this subject, I would be very grateful!

So, how should I go about it?

    I tried all those separate body part animations and I didn't like it really, but it was a long time ago. Everyone likes asprite but it's 20 dollars. But yeah, if you don't mind low res stuff, I think pixel animation is the easiest. Haven't done anything for ages though. I use blender in 3d, which does 2d bone animation also. I haven't used it, though.
