The forums are up again! Migration to new forum platform
So I did a minor redesign so the colors are easier to read (esp. in dark mode). I also removed all the stickies (except Godot 4.0 release). Seems there is a bug for regular users were every sticky shows on the front page. I'll look into why they don't stay in their category, but for now I just removed them because it's a really bad user experience for new users.

They only show at the top in the all discussions/categories page(it's a special page) if they haven't been previously read. Or rather if they have unread messages for the user.
Ah, okay. Well it doesn't look good for new users coming to the forum and also people who skip threads for whatever reason (if they are not interested). But I'll see if there is a way to customize it.

Well, they could just mark everything as read via the checkmark button, but I agree, for new users, if they even realize that it's an option, it isn't exactly an ideal one since it also marks everything else as read.
Mind, I'm not actually against removing the stickies, I actually think it'd be ideal to only have 1 sticky that in turn can link to other closed topics that cover things like the rules, and list of forum staff and how to get started with using the forums etc. It's just that ideally creating such a 'super topic' should exist first. But at the end of the day it doesn't really matter in which order it happens so long as it gets done I guess.
edit: additional thought, perhaps the welcome message on the forum front page can be made more use of too since it can include links.
Yes, we can use the welcome message. I can look into editing it. Also the links to the rules and help are on the header already, so it's redundant.
Include a HOW-TO-POST-CODE-HERE note. I think there's already one somewhere, but obviously it's missed by new posters.
We had that, but new users didn't click the sticky either.
Yeah, unfortunately the markdown for code blocks confuses those not used to it and the post editor code button always adds single line code blocks.
TwistedTwigleg the post editor code button always adds single line code blocks.
In my experience it does work fine here, but the code block needs to be pasted first then highlighted as multi line selection. My best guess is users probably press the code formatting icon then paste the code within it but in that circumstance it defaults to adding the formatting for inline.
Megalomaniak I stand corrected. I just tried it and it does properly work. I must have been remembering Vanilla
Shows how often I use the markdown buttons anymore

TwistedTwigleg I must have been remembering Vanilla
It was the same in vanilla. May have been 1 instance where it broke and resetting cache fixed it perhaps. Might be recalling that.

Yeah, I don't really rely on them either.

@cybereality For some reason, as of late, the popup window on the forum looks shaded and there's no way to make a selection. There is no way to mark any item and it's impossible to close the popup window:
Pale Moon (forked off from Firefox/Mozilla).
Tomcat Tagging @cybereality so they can be informed asap.
Yeah, I updated the forum software (Flarum) to the latest. Probably some bug, I can look into it.
I'm not seeing that issue here. I tested Firefox and Chrome, latest versions on Ubuntu.

In LibreWolf it displays normally. Looks like I'll have to switch to it. That's sad. But the Pale Moon worked fine the other day…
Maybe it makes sense to add a #DemoScene tag?
I added a "Demos" tag. Demo scene is something too specific and I don't think covers most of what people would be posting.
