Tomcat It's likely the facilitator, in their case mastodon, that has the paid account. Or since they have a registered non-profit organization they might have gotten free access to the API perhaps.
The forums are up again! Migration to new forum platform
Found an interesting feature... you might say a kind of hack...
If you open a topic with a picture in the beginning and then take it away, then in the preview of the topic it stays.
Is it possible to replace the preview by creating it from the first picture in the topic?
Tomcat Editing the topic and changing the order of the image links or adding a new image link to the top/front should do it. The other thing is probably just up to the forum cache taking time to update.
Not crucial, but curious…
If the answer of the user was marked as "best", and then the best answer became marked by another, in a profile remains the number of the best answers or should decrease?
I think it should stay the same if a single post was marked as the answer by more than one user, at least that’s what I would expect (I assume the count is the number of accepted answer posts, not the number of accepts)
TwistedTwigleg by more than one user
This must be a translation fault. The user who asked a question, first marked one answer as the best, after some time he marked a different answer. The "best" mark was removed from the first answer, but it seems that in the profile the amount remained with the unmarked answer.
This post had an odd behavior. The image included in the content became the user's avatar for that post.

Yes, that is because of a plug-in we added. That is the intended functionality.

Ah, I see what you mean now. That seems a little strange, but I’m guessing that it’s because the number increases when a post is selected as the answer right when it is selected. I would expect it to decrease when the answer is no longer marked as the answer though.
DaveTheCoder Yes, that's correct. The first image linked will be also displayed as the topic thumbnail.
TwistedTwigleg I love ZFS and particularly btrfs for this reason. Since they provide snapshots of the entire filesystem, its easy to just rollback at a desired point in time.
Is super useful on my desktop (Garuda) and I am sure, it does also help in cases like that.
Btrfs has an integration of GRUB, so even my grandma can rollback to an earlier state.
And that is definitely faster than restoring a backup.
Cheers
Mods can you reduce the number of stickies?
There's like 7 stickies now, you have to scroll a ways down to see anything new.
Probably, though 2 stickies for community tag/category doesn't seem so bad to me. I mean I get that you might be thinking in terms of the latest posts page which is also the front page but the actual 'stickies' are per category and they don't even stick to the top in this forum software unless there's actually a new message in there.
So I did a minor redesign so the colors are easier to read (esp. in dark mode). I also removed all the stickies (except Godot 4.0 release). Seems there is a bug for regular users were every sticky shows on the front page. I'll look into why they don't stay in their category, but for now I just removed them because it's a really bad user experience for new users.

They only show at the top in the all discussions/categories page(it's a special page) if they haven't been previously read. Or rather if they have unread messages for the user.
Ah, okay. Well it doesn't look good for new users coming to the forum and also people who skip threads for whatever reason (if they are not interested). But I'll see if there is a way to customize it.

Well, they could just mark everything as read via the checkmark button, but I agree, for new users, if they even realize that it's an option, it isn't exactly an ideal one since it also marks everything else as read.
Mind, I'm not actually against removing the stickies, I actually think it'd be ideal to only have 1 sticky that in turn can link to other closed topics that cover things like the rules, and list of forum staff and how to get started with using the forums etc. It's just that ideally creating such a 'super topic' should exist first. But at the end of the day it doesn't really matter in which order it happens so long as it gets done I guess.
edit: additional thought, perhaps the welcome message on the forum front page can be made more use of too since it can include links.
Yes, we can use the welcome message. I can look into editing it. Also the links to the rules and help are on the header already, so it's redundant.
