A lot of the discussion about the cloud gaming machines is revolving around the 85ms+ latency, not between your computer and a traditional game server, but between your keyboard and the remotely hosted game -- about a tenth of a second of input lag. However, this fellow has come up with some interesting ideas for hiding that, like sending a video stream for each predicted player input. It's an interesting programming problem.

Corn on the cob - of death | Warframe
My avatar pic is a picture of my acoustic guitar; I just placed it somewhere near my kitchen and take a pic:
A reconstruction of a Neanderthal from the Neanderthal Museum in Mettmann, Germany.
The Museum is right there where the bones of the name giving Neanderthal were found. Well not exactly, that would be in mid-air today because of industrial activity.

Pixophir I feel like there's a bit more to the story, in the avatar it has a mask on. Did you put the mask on? Was the mask yours?

@Megalomaniak No, I personally didn't. I took the image from the museum's gallery (but can't find it there any more).
I do have some albeit loose ties to the museum because of my former work and studies :-)
@packrat . It is not me, they disappeared around 40 thousand years ago and reconstructions are all we can do to visualize their appearance.
Though I feel honoured :-)
I have a vague sense that @Pixophir might have studied archaeology.
Megalomaniak I'm betting it's ancient anthropology. If that's a thing.
Put this together myself with paid assets.

Hey guys, I just showed off my avatar because I found it a good idea :-)
Back to the others.

cybereality I can feel the muggy urban oppression choking me. Well done! Very convincingly urban.
cybereality Yes. Now I know for certain that there was some Gucci going on.
I always block avatars with ublock.
I used to change avatars all the time based on shows I was watching, mood, whatever.
But then about 14 years ago I changed to Chi the kitten from the anime Chi's Sweet Home (it was Chi trying to type on a keyboard). It just stuck, and I decided to remain consistent.
While on the Oculus forums I edited the australian flag into the background due to being tired of people thinking I was american.

I don't care about your choice of avatar -- I'm more interested in what you've got to say. Since most people don't change avatars very often, you can't even really assert that it's an artistic expression, except in the sense of, "an expression of what they were thinking two years ago." At least with a t-shirt, you might have thought about it when you got dressed that day.
