Exactly! That's really the point right? We're all here because we see something in Godot that we like/prefer :smile: Sure. Use scenes as pre-prepared objects is brilliant and Node'n'Resource system is far beyond perfect.I'm with GoDot because i see potential in GoDot because it is different. GoDot is mix of revolutionary, brilliant systems. Commercial engines are afraid to try something new, something what may financially ruin them. But non-income developers are not afraid to try something new because they cannot get financially ruined. This is why i like GoDot, because it is different, in good way.

Me too man, me too. But this forum is not ghost town or middle of desert. Why shut down something with lot of active users besides fact that this forum can be used for learning. Many users come here with problem and most of times solution is found. This forum is full of knowledge and shutting it down does not seems to have any reason.

Well, the forum has only ever been in danger of shutting down because of hosting issues. For now we have the awesomely altruistic patronage of Ra as he is hosting for us for free, but he is a busy guy and it would be unfair of us to keep taking advantage of his altruism forever so once we've had time to upgrade the forum to latest vanilla and perhaps update the theme I will have to start thinking about what to do next.

I think it will be fine with Reddit , Discord , Questions & Answers.

I mean whatever it is about help or share and showcase something, Reddit is good. Discord advantage is you can have people to directly tchat about some coding or something else, so you can get faster response sometimes.

The benefit of a standalone forum compared to Reddit and Discord should not be understated even in this day and age.

Forums offer an amazing ability to archive old knowledge, allows for large discussions over a long period of time, gives users a good platform for long form commenting with mixed media and formatting, and isn't subject to the whims of a larger platform with their periodic changes to the rules and terms of service as well as forced updates and UI changes (not all of them actually benefiting users as feedback on other sites can attest).

I just read a long discussion on Reddit between Godot devs and the main dev of Rimworld. And Reddit is awful for that ! The answers are nested and it's a pain to find the last message. In my opinion the community leaders must leave Reddit and enforce the forum, even if a Discourse may be used, in order to be more trendy to people (yes, people can be stupid).

Reddit reserves the ability to highlight new comments in threads to gold members (which is a paid subscription) and subreddit moderators. Unfortunately, add-ons such as Reddit Enhancement Suite cannot change that (if implemented, it would put too much load on reddit's API servers).

The subreddit is here to stay – it's still a popular community resource. Moreover, one does not simply "enforce" using a forum over a subreddit; some people just prefer using reddit (which they use for many other purposes) instead of a forum.
