Not a lot of progress with Parasomnia Tower over the last week, however I really like how this new track turned out, I'm getting better at mixing and eq'ing and having fun with arpeggiators.
I've taken some time over the last few weeks to finish up a dungeon I started a long time for Etheldia Online.
Here's the patch notes:
v 1.44
Changes:
-Ravenscar Dungeon
After finally clearing the secret Yggdrasil dungeon almost five years after its release, I've created a new challenge.
Ravenscar represents the current pinnicle of Etheldia difficulty, four floors of resource management terror.
Battle through the ravens and avoid dreadlocking to attain true glory.
This update adds 8 new obtainable characters and several new abilities.
If you're looking for a hint as to where to find it... Try following the rats.
This is a serious no joke dungeon though, a full party of level 40+ at least is probably required.
Next update may be some time away, although I have been having fun working on this.
The plan is still to push through with Etheldia: Parasomnia Tower, as the next mainline release.
Until then, have fun with the birds.
The main reason for finishing this off is that Uni starts back for me next week. I like to play Etheldia Online to help prevent restlessness while I'm watching lectures. Since I released the Yggdrasil dungeon back in 2016 almost five years ago it's been a constant goal of mine to clear it, and I finally did so a few weeks back. The way it went down was kind of awesome, so I wanted to share it here.
The reason I've been working on the Yggdrasil dungeon for so long is because as a challenge I like to play with a party of rabbits. Rabbits don't have great stats, so it makes for a challenging time. The Yggdrasil dungeon has a wide variety of encounters, from push over saplings to powerful log dragons to run ending demi gods. A At first I could barely clear the first floor of seven, but as the years progressed so did my party. I've had several runs go to the final 7th floor, before luck and attrition ended the runs.
This fateful run began like any other, before I lost my healing mage Akari the nekomancer bunny on the fourth floor to a log dragon. While a blow to the run all my rabbits have healing abilities and Akari has low speed, so it wasn't a deal breaker. At the beginning of the sixth floor however I had an unlucky encounter with two legged log dragons, and while I got through the battle I lost Graysaiah, my coal rabbit and the defensive lynchpin and secondary physical damage dealer of the team. Without Graysaiah there I quickly lost Leila, my pink air rabbit utility mage, and Calliheel, my white chocolate rabbit and main magic damage dealer. With just Damos, physical attack damage and party leader remaining, and still with almost two floors to climb, the run was all but over...
By this point I knew I needed a miracle to make it, and wasn't expecting much. So many runs had made it to this point before in much better shape. But I kept going. I activated Damos's trump card early, using the ability Drive several times to skyrocket his attack and speed at the cost of most of his utility. This carried me through the whole of floor six through a couple more unlucky log dragon encounters, and then it was time for the seventh floor. In contrast to the other floors in the dungeon, floor seven is a straight line gauntlet. With spawn rates for log dragons elevated to super high levels, there's nowhere to hide.
Immediately, I ran into a log dragon, and used the last Drive I could to push up Damos's attack and speed to make it through. With enough speed you can strike the enemy multiple times in the same turn and I cleared another battle, but Damos was running seriously low on energy now, both attack and utility. Another log dragon would be the end of the run. And that's when the luck turned. As I ran the seventh floor gauntlet, encounter after encounter came up Damos managed to prevail, relying mostly on magic, healing himself against the chip damage, even summoning a fire rabbit to take some of the hits.
Slowly I started to believe it was possible. And then, it happened. Just a few steps away from the end, the final encounter was triggered, some saplings and seedlings. Damos took them down, and then walked the last few steps into the final room of the dungeon. In the end it was crazy how close it came, I took a screenshot of Damos's energy at the end, 0 attack, 7 magic, 28 utility and 150/280 HP. After almost five years of attempts, the Yggdrasil dungeon had been conquered.
I guess what this experience really showed me his how much potential this game has, and how I want to improve it to a point where people can enjoy the game like I have.
tldr; I played my own game and had fun.
Back at Uni now but still working on stuff when I have the time. Thanks for reading. =)
