Hi all.

I've been a professional software developer for almost 20 years now. I do some game dev on the side as a hobby.
I've been in love with godot since the moment I tried it a few years ago. At the time of writing I'm just starting to get my feet wet with GDExtension.

    mandax Hey. That's great! Welcome!

major_disorder Nice, curious what you got cooking with your experience ๐Ÿ™‚ And welcome to the forums!

Hi everyone, I have always been toying with the idea of making a game but never went serious enough at it. Iยดm in the artist side of things and have made quite a few 3d models in Blender across the years, but my profession have nothing to do with programming or the likes of videogame making.
So, for years I always thought that once I went for it I would use Unity 3d and hoarded tutorials, but after the shit-storm they created I decided to stay as far as possible from it. Even if there are tons of documentation of it, which was the aspect that attracted me most, and the easiness of use, I turned to GODOT. Which is pleasantly drama free and has advanced quite lot in its later versions (not many code samples and documentation around though).
Also the forums I used to roam have become ghost towns (Open GameArt and Free Game Dev) and Iยดd love to enter an active community to expose and discuss my brain farts.

Hello there \o first time Godot (and generally game engine) user
I always wanted to make something in the gaming sphere but only recently I managed to finally start trying. Only wish I had the confidence to to so sooner.

I have still a lot to learn even just on the object-oriented programming side of things, but so far it's being fun and it's great being able to gradually see things coming together.

This seems a great community with an excellent positive vibe, hopefully someday I'll be able to give back to it.

Yo! Iโ€™m pretty new with working in game engines but I have a decent background in 2D animation. Iโ€™m eager to learn and cut my teeth on this new engine! Got lots of ideas and canโ€™t wait to make them happen!

AriaofScarlet Hi there, welcome! It's a great feeling when you are eager to bring your ideas to life, and you have the tools to make it happen!

            Greetings everyone !

I am a software engineer more data-oriented but in my free time I spend lots of time learning new tech stuff! For the last year or two, I have been eager to develop this game based on ancient Chinese fantasy and it led me to Godot which I found super useful for my project.

Hoping to learn as much as I can around here ๐Ÿ˜Ž

rafidini Hey, welcome to the forum! Cool setting for the project you have in mind!

Hello everyone! I've just started learning Godot and GDScript. I've been working on my first 2d adventure/walking sim game for a while now, mostly creating the narrative, making 2d assets, and prototyping. I was learning Unity before but the engine is a bit overkill for the type of game I am aiming at, so I hope to carry on with Godot from now on. I'm glad I found this forum ๐Ÿ™‚

Hello everybody, I'm new to programming and making games, did some tutorials for godot but I see that i have a long way ahead, I'm a Teacher and my maing goal is make some mobile educational games for my students and if they're good later on put them in Playstore. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Chola Simmons here, from Africa. I've been following Godot (and downloading it every single time there's a new version) but never really made anything worth sharing.
I figured joining a community and speaking publicly about my ideas might help me get things moving out of my head into the 3D planes of the game industry!

Currently I'm interested in a top-down 2.5D space "shooter type" of game, it's all concepts and prototypes for now but I wouldn't mind collaborating with anyone out here ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Hello, I'm Memori. I have no experience at all in making games or programming. I've been following Godot's tutorials but if I had to make anything from scratch myself, I don't think I could for now. But even just from the tutorials was a fun experience for me so I want to learn more and make games. It would be harsh journey juggling with my job but it'll be a worthwhile journey I'm sure.

                      Hi guys

                      I'm new to Godot

I'm intrigued by Godot, because I once saw GD Quest, youtube channel that teach Godot with cartoonish yet simplistic and easy to engage.

Hope to learn and share a lot with you guys

                      Thank you

                        Memori

                        Earvin

                        Big welcome!

Yeah, GD Quest is awesome! I can also recommend their paid courses, which are really well made and put together. Also fun to follow.
