You could find some articles online over the years. And how ubuntu killed good gnome desktop environment etc etc.. there is a lot of drama in linux..

Are you sure you will be able to make something cohesive using random 3D assets? having made them yourself you can control the overall theme and make it look like they complement each other as there is common art direction.

In a game, the mechanics are what matter most. The visuals can be completely changed. Models can be replaced with different ones.

If a player isn’t interested in killing a green square, they won’t be interested in killing a red dragon either.

And you can refine the game’s mechanics using any models.

kuligs2 I don't really care about that stuff. I know everyone knows everything about me. Really, I'm much more worried about the government than commercial industry. The targeted ads are actually better than non-targeted ads.
Windows is just so ridiculously bloated it's barely functional. I'm not sure how many crashes I've had in windows 11, not to mention it siphoning almost all my bandwidth. I have a low bandwidth connection and they could care less. Linux to Windows is kind of like Godot to Unity. I have a decent computer but Unity is just barely usable.
Steam has to verify my age. I don't care. I hardly play games to be honest. I just noticed that Ubuntu libraries were being used by a lot of other distributions so I figured I might as well just download Ubuntu. I'm fine with companies and capitalism and all that.

I think I can keep the 3d assets cohesive. It's going to be mostly furniture, toasters, and what not. I had to rework that human model in the screen shot, the art looked fine but it didn't animate well. I also changed textures on the dumpster. Might redo it further. The low poly tends to give everything a similar look but some have the resolution on the textures lower than others.

this is boomer logic..

think about it.. are you a monkey? do you play games like youre training to go to moon doing menial tasks/time trials, or are you immerse yourself into the story that the game is trying to tell, roleplay as someone/thing you always wanted to be or want to experience thing, doing things you havent done before? i think people play games for the latter reasons.

fire7side YOu should be afraid of corporations too, because who is lobbying the laws and regulations? Corporations to their own benefits.
Also its more like they can just disable your system whenever they like.. push an update and brick your system just because they think you broke their TOS or something..

Nobody can be trusted.. just keep that in mind. We are at the point in time where we own nothing..

kuligs2 Competition keeps everyone in line. If people are free to make something better, they will. You worry most about monopolies and dictatorships because they eliminate competition. Corporations are just groups of people. We need some regulation obviously when it comes to toxic products and eliminating competitors, but the less the better as far as I'm concerned. If microsoft has my data, I get targeted ads. If the government has my data, it could be used for controlling the vote or who knows what.

DaveTheCoder you cant do windows for but ReactOS exist. Tho on my hardware it didnt work.. you need early 2000s hardware to have optimal experience.

That’s exactly what my game project should be about: a socio-psychological simulator that explains and illustrates, through real-life examples, how governments manipulate people and how personal data can be used. It explores crowd psychology and individual psychology — and how they interact.

Tomcat Right now he just walks around. I'm kind of a story centric gamer so it will be a lot of talking. I do want to work in some stealth, puzzles, and survival. It's going to be more directed than a sim.
