Some more background on the new enemy card design:
The biggest change in this update is the redesign of the enemy cards. The idea is that the value and the symbol are now displayed in a queue of runes, which hopefully gives the player a better indication of the sequence to defeat an enemy (reduce value to zero first and then clear the symbol).

We also reworked the layout of the details screen when you inspect an enemy card. The top rune of the queue will always be explained there alongside with the enemy's special abilities.

This new queue system solved some inconsistencies which existed in the previous versions, like this one:
JusTiCe8 Although there is quite an inconsistency with it as we don't need to finish it off like any other "minions", it is defeated once reached 0 Hp.
Is there any thoughtful reason of this ?
There is now one simple rule:
An enemy is defeated when all runes are destroyed and the queue is empty.
In addition, this system is far more flexible. Enemies can now have multiple values or symbols in any order, and we can introduce new rune types in the future. For example, there could be a “pair rune” that requires playing two cards with the same value to destroy it.
While this might not seem like a big change at first glance, it had quite an impact on many parts of the game and took some time to implement.

We already brainstormed and prototyped some new content (a prologue/tutorial, additional content for chapter 2, ...), which didn’t make it into this update. So hopefully we can share more soon 🙂
