Interesting, so you create a user on steam and make it a publisher/developer entity ? I was trying to find out the legal entity of the game you publishing.. No website, no info about the company behind the game.

kuligs2 I could be wrong, but I think there's a requirement for you to be some sort of corporate form in order for you to publish/sell a product on Steam. A platform needs to know you are legally responsible for your business and taxes. I remember Steam having quite a deliberate onboarding process that asks a lot of questions, requires business legal details, etc. I don't think there's any way around that.

kuligs2 I'm sure you are writing in general terms to illustrate a point. But as @Zelta mentions, let's stay on topic and not derail this project thread into something else.

MikeCL my point to all of this was that, there was no information who the publisher/developer really is.. its just a name.. i hope by the time the game is released (even on early access, ass most of games are these days) that there will be information on how to get support from the developers on the issues relating to the product customers purchased

I don't like the swear words in the name of the game either, but I respect your reasoning.

If I named my game with a direct translation (Ёбанная планета), I couldn't put it on a public platform in my country. Only on an “underground” one.

You can call it something like “weird” planet, or “utterly bizarre”. The Anglo-American language is really poor at expressing emotion — you can look in French or German for similar terms.

Planète de merde [Planète merdique] already sounds somehow more decent, if only because it is a foreign swear word.

Regarding xyz, he really absolutely organically does not perceive other people's arguments and is not able to agree with them and admit his wrongness. But that's not why we love him. He has another virtue for which he is forgiven here — he is a programming and math genius. I urge you to show him humane leniency, as this knowledge of his can be useful to you as well.

Just a quick note on a factual error.

Having to check the "view adult content" box on YouTube isn't a problem either.

It's a problem. Yt requires registration to view “adult” content, which may not be acceptable to everyone. And sometimes it's just not possible to register there (like we have now).

What happened in this thread... Anyway just wanna add that, at least in the EU, in order to watch restricted videos I have to send Google a photo of my ID or credit card. Which 1) I'm not doing and 2) is stupid because kids can have credit cards, it doesn't prove you're 18+. So if I come across a restricted video, I just don't watch it ¯_(ツ)_/¯

The rest has been taken down to keep the discussion cleaner. The rest is yours. And mind you, I removed one of yours, and you instantly re-posted it. I removed it to keep the discussion more on-topic, as it was just fueling more of the argument.

Well, I suggest writing more about the game. Going through the discussion, most posts are from you defending your position. People will have different opinions. That's just one type of feedback. But it's still up to you to follow your vision.

In this case, you are absolutely wrong (although my personal position on profanity in the game's title, oddly enough, is quite close to yours. And you put quotation marks around it completely in vain.). But there is an objective criterion here: if Steam accepted and approved this title, then it means it is completely acceptable. For me, this is characteristic of the platform and its level of culture — savagery and barbarism. However, I don't use it and don't intend to.

Are you sure you're talking to me? That post of mine was not in response to you and it mentioned a different thread. What did I say that would cause someone to back out? I am in no way trying to convince you to change the name.

I don't trust Steam at all and don't plan on using it.

So I've removed posts you didn't like (I kept those just asking simple question about the store related to your game). Sure the discussion got quite heated but people have moderated themselves by removing their own posts.

You then re-post the thing that just fuels the argument you want to stay away from, you then keep arguing with people just for sharing opinions, and now you are posting screenshots of deleted posts you also complained about. Please remove those as the posts you are arguing against have been removed, it doesn't make any sense for you to keep pushing the arguments with screenshots.

If you can't move on in a polite manner, I will lock this discussion as it only fuels more sh*t throwing back and forth.

I won't tolerate accusations that my game contains malware, snake oil, is a disreputable company, is profane, has a name reminiscent of porn, etc., etc. I won't put up with slander and defamation of my company simply because the game's name includes a strong word that someone might not like. And of course, I won't change the game's name because someone thinks it's not a mature name for a video game.

As I've said several times: I'm happy to answer any questions as long as they're normal questions and not accusations or slander against me or my company.

Personally I don't really care for the name one way or the other, it's simply OP's choice. But I think they should take note that even in this small group there already are people that might have opinions about the name and be prepared that this will likely continue to be a topic of discussion.

I just find it amusing how OP keeps fanning the flames instead of just saying "feel free to continue discussing the name in this thread but I'll refrain from commenting on it any further" and just stick to posting about the game. And if people want to talk about it then let them, because any publicity is good publicity, right?
