I am new to the forum, but have played around with Godot for a few years now. I am thinking of adding a Godot tutorial to my blog at gamecodeplus13.blogspot.com and am also considering writing an AI assistant plugin for the Godot engine. But I am not sure how the AI might be received by the community. Any feed back would be great. Thanks.

MangaDragon xyz will tell you all about what he thinks of AI..

I dont care, as long as it can parse the docs and give precise examples to solve the problem.. but spitting out nonsense code that does not work is useless..

I would rather have more examples in docs on how things works and how they not work.

Also i would like all them PRs to be merged already.. some are very useful

I have been a hobbyist coder for as long as I can remember now, and I see AI invading everything. My guess is, in order to survive the rapidly changing world, we must join with the movement. It would be wise my friend...

MangaDragon would you trust a dog to build a foundations to your house? Same could be applied to "AI"..

MangaDragon in order to survive the rapidly changing world, we must join with the movement

Sounds like something a low tier villain in a low budget dystopian sci fi movie would say... or a midwitt in 1937 Germany.

            xyz
Well, kind of... I believe I was quoting Sarumon from Lord of the Rings.

            • xyz replied to this.

MangaDragon Well then maybe it's time to step out of the fantasy land and realize that in reality the world is not "rapidly changing", there's nothing to "survive", no "invasion" of any kind, and no "movement" to join.

xyz what kind of world are you living in? there are plenty of sects, plenty of invasions, plenty of things people need to adapt to.. i wish it was as plain as you describe... beam me up!

I did not mean to be offensive... It is just that I have struggled for a long time to become a computer programmer and no luck. Now more than ever who needs programmers when AI is writing programs. I figure any hope for me is to learn AI programming. This is what I meant by survive.

MangaDragon I have struggled for a long time to become a computer programmer and no luck

                    What problems have you encountered?

I asked ChatGPT for its insight...

It's not uncommon for discussions about emerging technologies like AI to spark strong reactions. Many experienced programmers might feel that their current skills are being challenged or fear that new technologies could disrupt established practices. However, AI is rapidly becoming an integral part of many fields, including software development, data analysis, and more.

Here are a few thoughts that might help navigate such discussions:

Expanding Skill Sets: Learning AI doesn't mean abandoning traditional programming skills; rather, it's an opportunity to enhance your capabilities and stay relevant as technology evolves.
Integration, Not Replacement: AI tools are often designed to augment human skills, automating repetitive tasks or providing insights that can make coding more efficient, not to replace programmers entirely.
Continuous Learning: The tech industry is always changing. Embracing new fields like AI is a way to future-proof your career and open up new possibilities.
Understanding Concerns: Recognize that some programmers may have concerns about the rapid pace of change or may feel overwhelmed by the idea of learning something entirely new. Open dialogue can help ease these worries by showing how AI complements existing expertise.
Ultimately, staying adaptable and continuously learning new technologies—like AI—can be a great way to thrive in the changing world of programming.

Well, finding a job that would hire me considering I have no college experience. Everything I know has been self taught. From programing to game engines to blender animation...

I doubt if AI programming would make any difference in that regard.

In response to your original post, the only way to find out is to publish it.

Well, to be honest, I don't see me as ever getting hired by someone. But that is why I dream of making a product that I could use to employ myself. You know, the old be my own boss sort of thing.

I really dig that sterile, politically correct tone of ChatGPT's "wisdoms"
Btw, what in the wet socks is "ai programming"?

xyz maybe he meant that he wants to invent AI that will solve problems, maybe a different approach? I was asking this myself.

As for OP, i too am self taught, and i too have no education, that doesnt mean i give up.. The only way is just to do it. There are no shortcuts. Find a project you are passionate about and just make it happen. You will learn a lot. You will learn how not to do things and if youre lucky, do it better next time 😃.

General rule on the interwebs - whatever you post, will be criticized. Good and bad.

AI Programming? Well I hear it starts with Python, and may include OpenAI, TensorFlow, PyTorch, even Java to get started. Then there is Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, and before any of that... Tic Tac Toe!

I am a fan of self taught... Curious, what are you currently working on?
