I click on the smilie and insert emoji and i get that instead of smilies...

    oh wow, i never seen this before! i've been used to click a smilie then choose one from a list.

    but here you can just type a colon then any other character and you get a short list that way.

    i like it but it kinda difficult to get used to -- also there's no recently used list which i used frequently lol

        I never liked emojis, even the 8x8 emojis of 200X. It can't be geriatric hatred of new things, otherwise I'd remember the dumb little faces fondly, but it could be 'childhood trauma'. My mom bought what was called a 'naughty smiley cursor pack' back in the AOL days, back when I was 7. The problem is I don't remember them bothering me much.
        Maybe it's as simple as I enjoy hacking pictures into existence with text

          I also noticed it a while back. It is strange indeed. I need to investigate it. It's something that comes default with the forum platform. I've put it on my to-do list.
