Hey guys! I'm Adam, part of the dev team at Chiaroscuro Entertainment, working on the game's code base 🙂 I'd like to tell you about our little journey so far.
Active production of the game using Godot has started, laying down the foundations, about a year or so ago. The project leader has already been working on the game's script and rich lore for over a year beforehand. Yeah, I was flabbergasted when I saw the 50+ pages long GDD when I got on board in June. I've been the sole programmer ever since, building the game (almost) from scratch with the art assets evolving and expanding as development went on.
Our original plan was to launch a Kickstarter campaign in November, and so we started preparing in September, talking to marketeers and launching our Twitter page. We soon realized we don't have enough time to put it together and market it sufficiently, and we also didn't have a demo present.
Now, half a year later, we've had some playtesters (and still looking! you know where to find me! haha) for a one-level demo, which has already expanded significantly, with more levels as well! We had to make some design decisions to fill the level's world with more content, as it felt a bit bleak and empty in some areas. As we're finishing necessary assets and efforts to make our FOUR playable levels available instead of only a single one (it'll still be the biggest area in the build, though), we want to boost our exposure, meet many people and ensure our demo is in the best state by the time Next Fest arrives. That being said, if you want to give this adventurous, heavily visuals-focused beautiful game a shot, you're more than welcome to do so!
Here's our brief synopsis:
Decaying without its god-like creators, the world of Dremid'ir is poised on the brink of destruction, explore a world filled with ancient ruins and lost civilizations, as a small group of unknown heroes find a way to save themselves from the savage wastelands that surround them.
Odyssey of Dremid'ir is a story-driven, open world 2D RPG, set in the gritty hand drawn world of Dremid'ir; a fantasy world of monsters and magic, caught in a post-apocalypse after its god-like creators have been destroyed. In Odyssey, you play an unsuspecting magi, Codrin, on a quest to find safety and salvation in a world full of volatile magic, and creatures beyond reckoning, while exploring ruined cities, mountains, lost forests, and deep caverns.
