  • [ALPHA SOON] CORE: FRACTURE, a rogulike FPS inspired by Cyberpunk and Deus Ex

Hello, godot community!!
I would like to share a project of mine i've been working on!
It's called CORE: FRACTURE that's a Roguelike FPS game in the future!

Right now we are focused on the framework itself, but lore is actually there! In short:

Stratis is an exoplanet in the Antaria system/sector. Its radius is 4 times larger than Earth's. Statis's original core was replaced with a large biosphere as the surface was getting far too cold to live on. 90% of the population/humans eventually moved to other planets, escaped into the biosphere, or died in the freezing overworld. The biosphere, also known as CORE, is controlled by an AI, and has a lot of androids living inside as workers(?), which are almost identical to the original inhabitants/humans. One day, the AI went rouge, and the biosphere was left without any control. Androids split into two groups, one of which wanted to restore the AI's functionality, and the other wanted anything but that.

We have made our own UI system along with a custom augmented player controller!

If you're interested hop on out discord server, I post updates there almost reguralry!

Thank you for reading 🙂

Wish I could see it but it's all from discordapp which I have blocked. Seems cool tho, I do love cyberpunk as a genre and Deus Ex was also amazing.

Seems like this is a problem with a solution....

This looks nice! Can I just say though, there's one thing that Cyberpunk 2077 did which really irked me because I was having tech problems at the time. If you ever do hacker effects, please please don't make them look like actual computer errors like the lost signal bars among other things.

Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the few high end games I was interested in trying and I honestly couldn't tell whether it was my machine or the actual game that was messing up because of the awful effects in there like the fuzziness on the screen and so on. It's really random but something I thought I'd point out to any future devs that want to make hacker/cyberpunk games because it was that jarring for me as someone who does know how to diagnose computer problems. Alternatively if there's a split in opinion on this, give players the option to turn these effects off.

I completely disagree with @Lethn . I love games that have like fake Windows Blue Screen of Death screens. Really adds to the immersion.

controls look very smooth, great work!
dont like the chromatic aberation glitch effect when landing tho. but thats just my opinion.
i also think the music is too much 'in your face'

DJM thanks for the reply, powerful glitch effect was already fixed, and the music was just for the action B)

This looks awesome! The visuals, music, UI, mechanics, effects, chef's kiss! I love the effect when you hover over an interactable item. The music does give that cyberpunk-y vibe. I think this will be an amazing game once it's finished! Definitely playing when the alpha version comes out. This project really shows how much you can do with the Godot Engine.

RachelLysander oh yea, might make a switch for that

Ah, nah I just meant to signify that there'd be some interest if you choose to have a youtube or odysee or such channel for showing it off. I mean in addition to what you have now.
