AI Achieves Parity At "Diplomacy"
Could do with more context here? Is this some kind of state machine for diplomacy?
Lethn The above appears to be a sort of hybrid of goal oriented action planning and a finite-state machine. But the focus is the AI driven actor-to-actor messaging for realistic simulation of diplomacy in a strategy game setting far as I can tell.
duane I didn't initially realise the image was a link. Others might face similar confusion. Perhaps it's better to add it as a separate link on a new line?

Megalomaniak for realistic simulation of diplomacy
Oh, that slippery slope… Diplomacy is part of politics. Do you seriously believe that politicians are guided solely by rational considerations and not by their psychological complexes, which cannot yet be correctly modeled? Then I have only one question: why can't we discuss politics if they are rational? Or do they have such "rational considerations" that it is better not to voice them publicly… I don't know of a case where an argument between mathematicians or physicists over a formula has resulted in a brawl, a stabbing, or a firefight.

Makes sense. Usually, I duplicate the link in the picture in the header.

@Tomcat
They are talking about the game "Diplomacy", which is a strategy board game invented in the 1950s, as well as an online game of the type turn based strategy.
@duane
There's a paper on the subject:

Edit: Nevermind, interactive doesn't seem to be my thing, I've been on the command line for too long, the link is behind the OP image :-)

In general, yep, we're talking about an attempt to implement an artificial player in the game "Diplomacy". There substitute the player is possible, because it is limited by a rigid set of rules not relevant to reality.
But the sad thing is that there is no game on real politics.

If there's one thing that I've learned about the AI guys is in marketing especially they grossly exaggerate it's capabilities the majority of the time. Do you know why? They want those sweet, sweet government contracts and they think it will net them some job building military drones or some kind of surveillance software. I don't even know if I particularly like calling this kind of code AI to begin with because of the implications involved. By the way, there will also never be any kind of 'accurate' political simulator and do you know why? Ironically it will be because of politics, everyone has their biases and the programmers I've seen that have attempted some kind of political game always skew in favour of one direction or the other as a 'success' variable.
No one on the right or the left actually examines what is a successful society based on real quantifiable variables because they have their heads so far up their own arses due to ego, it will never happen.
Be careful. This discussion is getting dangerously close to politics.

DaveTheCoder Yep, also another reason why no one is ever going to visit this kind of topic for a game in an honest fashion lol.

I'd like to bring my project eventually (far from immediately) to this very issue. But I fear that this is not realistic. And not for technical reasons.

Already
Yesterday I watched a news video that related how a very successful game company CEO lost his job and company for expressing his viewpoint on a current politically-sensitive topic.
