Willing to pay and/or rev share, I am on a low budget so I'm hoping you'll have passion/hope for the project as well! Would prefer total coding costs stay under 5k. Platform will be PC, 'maybe' Mac, as many distribution venues as possible, Steam, Epic, Itch.io, etc. (this is flexible though).
The player manages a planet and its species with the goal being to create an intelligent species that is harmonious with the world and the Gods (polytheism). The game is currently planned as isometric 2d tilemap.
The primary goal of the design is to have as large decision trees as possible for the player, while still creating a "zen like" experience (sort of like maintaining a garden since they are caring for an environment and its denizens).
The player will be intimately involved with the myriad (200+) of species they can grow, nurture, punish, etc., similar to managing Pokemon but on a larger scale. Only 50 or so species may exist in one playthrough. Specific gods latch onto species, and the player has to negotiate with these gods (in a political sense) to bring peace and harmony to the world.
The player uses tools to shape the environment (natural disasters/etc.) as well as to shape the cultures/societies of species. These tools include meteors/floods etc. which can partly "wipe the slate clean" if a species evolution goes awry.
There will also be an advanced “Mind building” meta where the player grows their own god’s intellect and powers, giving them a sense of ownership over their game and their performance.
Influences Sim Earth(PC) - deterministic world building is largely the direction the game wants to go Black + White(PC) - the player plays the role of a god using powers to influence avatars and citizens Populous(SNES) - The player plays the role of a god using powers, but the game still feels very personal Spore (PC) - lifting from Spore, the general evolution of species from microorganisms to advanced conscious beings
