would like to know your thoughts...

Pikmin is a Real-time strategy, puzzle game, it was the first game of it's type in the way of gameplay and goals. correct me if I'm wrong.

can I make and sell a game like Pikmin?

there are lots already about, are these clones? is there copyright issues here?

Yes. It's not like you can copyright a genre. You can however copyright the characters, the music and other IP. That is exactly what Nintendo did, so probably best not to make a direct Pikmin clone.

You can make a strategy puzzle game no problem.

thanks mate, i was creating a game for the itch jam and what I've made is maybe something that I want to keep and work on.

I'll have to start on another game now to get this jam done.
