GODOT Crashes when displaying Template projects.

System = (Windows 7 x64 SP1 16gb mem, nVidia GTX 1070 (with updated drivers)).

I've not had any issues playing any games on my system, but... I've tried to run Godot_v3.0.3-stable_win64 (also the x32 version) -and - Godot_v2.1.3-stable_win64. I've also tried running them as Admin with the same results as well as disabling firewalls. Both crash out while viewing the Template tab, sometimes I can go 3 or 4 pages before the crash happens.Or it may happen as soon as the first page loads, I don't know what to do.

I've attached a picture of the console, it has some errors in red, but I'm not sure if this is why the program is crashing.

Also, I'm not sure where the best area to post issues like this is at ? Any ideas ?

Please exsqueeze me :) Building from the sources fixed this problem. I was using a binary release, so, Ua.. I'm new to computers and compiling software. But... I think this is very nice game development software and I can't wait to start using it, I think I'm gonna program in some AI tools to help game development in a CASE fashion (If CASE is still in-style), so, bye for now :)

According the the error report, there is a null error. This means it tried to access memory region that was not allocated. And according to the error one of the PNG files it tried to load was bad. I noticed this is libpng. And I can see the error message says that the PNG file is not a real PNG file. This might mean the PNG file is not a image, or it might have the wrong extension on the file name. You might try checking and see if the PNG file even exists.

You said your new to coding? The null error is specific to certain languages and libraries. If it was programmed in C it would have a value pointing a memory region. However the OS would not have given you permission to read or write that area of RAM, it would crash your program. 'Page Fault'

The library your using was programmed to protect against page fault, the variable taht is being used as the pointer was created with the value zero. When the library tried to use that variable to read the ram address it pointed at, it found out it was pointing at address zero. This means the pointer/variable was not pointing at any memory region assigned to the program. Looks like the library is what shut down the program, but probably was higher up in the chain. It was not a crash, it was a shut down. An abort. The programed does this for protection. That's what page faults are about. The OS shuts down the program to protect itself from accidents.

Page Faults and Zero Ram Addresses should be the most common crash you will get. Other problems will surface.

And thanks, I'm glad I got it working, This engine looks really well designed ! And the game design method seems to be very logical, efficient and easy to use. I just got to learn how to program now, so I can make an AI monster :smile: )
