How is going your proof of concept ? This is what it is about.
I point out you need tools to paint grass or objects until your proof of concept is about mesh terrain only.
You are right, i let you do your proof of concept as you want, but i would feel incredibly limited to make a proof of concept in Godot 3 before it grow lot more about features.
First I'll say I certainly appreciate feedback and constructive criticism. Tips, tricks...etc. I thank anyone and everyone who does that. Maybe it's a language barrier (is English your first language?), but often, it feels as if your responses have an underlying tone of "other engines are better", and I'm fully aware there are more complete and mature engines out there than Godot. Again, maybe that's a language barrier issue and that's not your desired tone. I'm certainly not trying to stop healthy discussion...etc. So my apologies if I'm misinterpreting your tone.
Otherwise, my POC is moving along, although maybe not as fast as I'd like. (Summer just began, my kids are out of school...family vacations are taking up too much time LOL). But I'm currently working in Blender on some simple assets (Cabin/house, campfire, trees/bushes/grass, a simple player character and a simple enemy character, both with animations).
While I'm doing that, I'm going through the FPS tutorial from the Godot documentation. Then I'm going to try to start tying all the pieces together in the engine.
My overall goal is a character with a house, a terrain to explore (that is interesting enough to explore) and an enemy to kill. If I can get that done...I'll feel good about my POC
Hopefully I'll have some screenshots tonight or tomorrow
