Hi there,

Godot looks like a really neat engine, and I'm very interested in since some weeks/months. But I never took the time to learn how to use it.

I have some projects and I'll have to make them with a delimited amount of time. I'm a student in game design and I'll have 6 weeks to build something. To learn something. To make something. Whatever I want... And I wanted to know if learning how to use Godot would be possible in only 6 weeks.

I won't do a whole gaming, or anything. I just want to learn the basics, and make a small project, maybe a platformer, but I'd like to make a turn-based rpg (Really, really simple) or a diablo-like (But I assume i'd be the most complicated and time consuming so...)

I know almost nothing about coding so it might be really difficult at first.

What do you guys thinking ? Is that possible, that, in 6 weeks, anyone can make a little project ?

I already have done a little platformer in 48 hours in the Unreal Engine by visual scripting for a GameJam. Don't know if that could help.

Thanks by advance for any input and have a nice day.

Hello and welcome

May I suggest to read the step by step part into the Godot docs in a first time. And Into it, you could try to make Your First Game.

There are also a large choice of tutorials on this forum (check the Tutorial section)

I imagine you expected another answer, but there are no miraculous solutions, and learning a game engine asks time...

...And making a RPG, even simple, would ask too much time… Except if you don’t need to sleep :)

6 weeks is plenty.

I personally prefer to listen and watch at the same time so I have found youtube tutorials really helpful. There are many channels but three of them are so good I would recommend them to everyone. They are Kids Can Code - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNaPQ5uLX5iIEHUCLmfAgKg Games From Scratch - https://www.youtube.com/user/gamefromscratch GD Quest - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxboW7x0jZqFdvMdCFKTMsQ

I link to channels and not directly to tutorial series because they have other stuff as well that you or other people might find interesting.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer. Keltwookie, every help is welcome. So thanks to you. :D

I'll take a look at these channels as soon as possible. :)

If you're still here, I want to add an advice: use the official demos to build your first game faster.

Good idea. I'll give it a try. :) Thanks NeoD.
