There is many game modding open projects like this one, but they never get momentum and never become a full game, but stay as some sandbox tools. Should you decrease the features of the game, get some realistic goals and make your own game instead ?
I think it'd be a reasonable thiing to do, if my immediate goal was to release a commercial game as soon as possible.
But for now, I'm less interested in making any full game that everybody can love than working on a project in a way that I personally find interesting.
My fascination about working on a game project is that I can create a world in a way I like, but as a programmer the world doesn't simply mean a 3D virtual space in which I can walk around but also such an abstract world of interfaces and classes.
And I'm also using this project as a testbed for experimenting different programming ideas and styles, so probably it wouldn't be the most efficient way to finish a game.
And even regarding the game mechanic, I'm afraid my current vision might not coincide with that of majority of people. For instance, I'm not focusing on any combat elements or challenges (at least for now), but trying to make a flexible framework for roleplaying oriented, or even NSFW contents.
So, I'm afraid that my project might not appeal to broad audiences, and even if it does, it may need at least couple of years to be able to really useful for them.
In the meanwhile, I hope that people can benefit from my project by taking some ideas or assets from it to use them for their own works.
