Seems like it's one of their ways of buying karma so they aren't perceived as being pure evil when they ban/"limited state" people on their social platforms whose opinions they dislike, or when they sell data collected through their various platforms all over the web from unwitting users to ad agencies and governments, or when they lock people out of their Google Drive accounts over false positives and disallow them from accessing any of their files.
