  • Executable detect as a dangerous app by Windows defender

I have this problem with all my games (nevermind the engine used) so I'm wondering if there is something to change it or the only solution is to distribute your game on a plateforme as Steam ?

Windows defender flags your games as dangerous, or the game engine(s)? Is it only on your computer, or every computer?

If it's only on your computer, than it could be your window defender settings. I have not used windows for a while now, so maybe something's changed? I've never had any issues with Windows defender for my games, or at least no one has reported having any issues. Given it happens no matter the engine, I would guess it's your Windows defender settings.

If it happens on other computers, then it might be different. It is probably that the other computers Windows defender settings are similar/same as your computer. (Default windows defender settings?). Or it could be something is injecting malicious code. The odds that something is injecting malicious code is really low, like under one percent, so I highly doubt that is the case but I suppose it's theoretically possible... Or it could be something else entirely, who knows!

Regardless, I suppose you can tell Windows defender to make an exclusion, see this Microsoft support page for info on how to do that.

There are no matter in my computer but into others. It's not infected by a malware and it happens with all engine... It's a little bit annoying when I have to share a game, but I think it's the default settings of windows defender...

thank you for your answer anyway

I had something like this with Avast a long while back, it was a problem in some security certificate. If this keeps happening maybe you should report it as a bug, or check if it is already reported. Who knows.

Good luck.

You need to sign your executables with a certificate recognized by Microsoft, which costs money (at least €100 a year). Else, newer versions of Windows (especially as of 8) will likely refuse to run your executable entirely with the default settings.

The process is not exactly easy either – there are many companies offering code signing certificates at varying prices and degrees of support.

Oh, I see.. I don't wanna pay for distribute free game, so much for that ! thank for answer
