Purpose of persistent paramenter in node.add_to_group()

Hello. I'm curious about the node.add_to_group(string name, bool persistent) function. What is the purpose of the "persistent" parameter? I wasn't able to see in the node documentation that it was mentioned so I'm not sure what it does exactly. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I'm curious about this myself, as well as the flags for call_group(). I found at least two questions on the Q&A about group stuff that went unanswered. I think I might start a github issue to get it more attention.

@Ross one of those might have been mine. I posted a question there as well (I wasn't sure what the approval process for this would be) and figured I'd cross post from here to the other or vice versa if one got answered. Unfortunately, neither has so far.

I took a brief tour through the source code but nothing leapt out at me as immediately obvious functionality. To be fair, that's likely my ignorance of the project structure though more than anything.

I figured out what the persistent argument means. If you pack and save the node in a PackedScene resource, only persistent groups will be saved to the file. Otherwise it has no effect.

Thanks guys! I'm not just dead sure what a PackedScene resource is but that's something new to lookup :). And now we're tracking the missing documentation too which is a good thing.
