Quick background: I have no programming experience. I only have 2D/3D art skills. I'm using Linux and the lack of official linux support with Unreal Engine & Unity 3d has led to me discovering GODOT engine. I'm wondering if the engine is capable of making games similar to Astal ([url=

). And for 3D is it possible to do 2.5D type game in same vein as say Klonoa on PSX or NiGHTS on Sega Saturn ([url=

)?

Definitely :) You can do games a lot more complex than that with Godot, and of course also games like the ones you mentioned.See e.g.

and

for examples of what people are using Godot for.

Thanks for reply. And wow I am so glad I discovered GoDot engine. It must be the Blender of game engines. Blender is to Maya/3DS Max as GoDot is to Unity/Unreal Engine. Guess I will need to learn the scripting. Does Godot feature blueprint / nod based scripting?

okay wow , how didn't I hear about this engine sooner? Will it always remained open source/ free like Blender?

Godot is amazingly powerful once you learn all of its tricks it's hiding!
