Don't Stop

Hello internet! I'm currently working on a game called Don't Stop. <img src="http://www.pasteall.org/pic/show.php?id=105335" alt="" height="269" width="480"> The idea It's a game about an old game for an even older console, found in a dark corner of your basement. It's a endless runner with simple graphics and even simpler controls - press space to jump. But something is wrong with this game... My main goal is to create a simple game with a slightly disturbing story that the player has to discover on his own, so I try to give as little information about it as possible. Current status It's still in an very early stage of development. The basic mechanics are working but need a lot of tuning. I already have:

Variable jump height

Randomly generated, endless runs/levels

4 unique sections (sets of obstacles) of which the runs are generated

Version 0.2.0 released! (may contain spikes <img alt="" src="https://godotdevelopers.org/forum/smf/Smileys/flat_emoji/wink.gif">) In the past week I focused on refactoring and improving the code. Especially the input handling for the player controls and the save game/config handling. I also added a new section. In the upcoming week I'll try to improve the existing sections so the player is forced to make use of the variable jump height. You can grab the latest version at https://danjo.itch.io/dont-stop

Thanks for downloading and taking the time to report this error! Looks like you don't have ssl installed. On Debian (and probably Ubuntu and other Debian based distributions) the package is called libssl1.0.2. What distribution are  you using? I have to do a bit of research why this library is needed and if I can avoid this dependency. (The game doesn't use any kind of networking so depending on ssl makes so sense..)

You could build your templates with [tt]openssl=no[/tt] (or [tt]openssl=builtin[/tt], like the official templates). With no specific parameter, it builds against the shared library, and Fedora notably changes this library soname from libssl.so.1.0.0 to libssl.so.10. Debian used to use the upstream libssl.so.1.0.0 soname too, but apparently they decided to run [tt]s/1.0.0/${version}/[/tt] in testing and unstable now... This thing has always been a mess: https://github.com/godotengine/godot/issues/1391

@Akien: Thanks for your help! @Peidorrento: Could you please try this build and tell me if this fixes the error? ldd doesn't show anything related to ssl anymore so I guess it should run fine now http://pub.atze.libra.uberspace.de/dont_stop-0.2.1.x64

Don't be afraid, there are no jumpscares <img alt="" src="https://godotdevelopers.org/forum/smf/Smileys/flat_emoji/wink.gif"> If you played more then 1 minute you probably have already seen everything the game has to offer for now. Well, except for that image that appears for a split second if you dare to look at the menu for too long.. (I think it appears at most every 5 seconds with a 50/50 chance or something )

Tried it again. Nice game, but I got a little nauseous... Maybe the filter is a bit too much for me.

Just uploaded version 0.3.0: I added a highscore table and changed the score system a little. The player get's 10 retries (lives) at the start of the game and the scores of each try get added up to a total score which is saved in the highscore table. I also drastically reduced the visual effects in the hope to prevent people from getting nauseous and I removed the countdown at the start. The disturbing parts come in last, there's nothing I didn't write about in this thread. Just a square jumping over walls and spikes to get a high score. I even removed the "Don't Stop" switching to "DIE DIE DIE" for some split seconds in the main menu.
