Wastework - 3rd person sewage worker simulator
||| This project is currently on indefinite hold. |||
Wastework is a 3rd person fantasy sewage maintenance simulator with light puzzle and exploration elements.
You are a maintenance worker on their evening shift. On your back is a powerful hose you will use to slash away at clots and blockages throughout a maze of tunnels and drains, snaking through one of the city's massive cisterns.

@defomort Welcome to the godotforums!
Your exploration project looks great....keep it Up!...the atmosphere is nice.
Ditto. Welcome and looks like a good start, keep it up!
Most of the original concept, including all the above ground sections, have been scrapped and replaced with everyone's favourite game environment: sewers
You will play a sewage maintenance worker and, with your trusty water cannon, set off into the city's depths to clear away whatever is causing the blockage. Gameplay consists of light exploration, and breaking up clots of waste with your powerful hose. The deeper you go the more dark and hazardous things will get, so good thing you know what you're doing...
I'll be posting more regular updates and screenshots on Twitter (@defomort) if anyone is interested.
It's nice to start seeing more 3D game projects arrive on this forum, it really proves that Godot is getting better in this area.
It will be interesting to see what this turns into.
This is an interesting concept, and I like the approach you seem to be taking so far. Sewers are frequently uninteresting places in games, but there's a lot of room for experimentation and ideas (lost cities, giant machinery, waterways and dams, etc). Looking pretty cool so far!
Video update!
I am constantly baffled when I hear sewers are the worst parts of games, like how do you wander around all day irl not wondering what it's like down there while this is going on:
New development video with updated graphics and gameplay.
Looks nice but I think it would look better with some ambient light. It seems a bit dark. Cool though.
This is pretty rad. Just got done unclogging some sewage myself.
I added props for the light to bounce off of and cranked up the lights that were already there after trying the game on some other monitors. Thanks for pointing it out!
Feel free to share, this is a sewage friendly space.
I'll have another video update soon, mostly focused on all the trash I have added.
I also put in a main menu.
When you read it, it's like, this has to be the worst idea ever made . . But, your game looks good, real nice . .
I'm a fan . . . .
If you had made this game 15 years ago, you'd be rich, to be honest . .
Uhh, preferably in the format of a video game I suppose..?
I made a short video update on Wastework and a few other Godot projects I am working on:
I wasn't sure where to post this as it's primarily for another game but it explains why Wastework is on hold and where I'm at with Godot, and the progress I've made since I switched from Adventure Game Studio.
In summary, Wastework didn't have enough going on in it to justify the amount of time I was putting in, and a lot of the mechanics weren't something I saw myself using in future projects. I'm not outright cancelling it, but like, let's be real, it will be a time before I go back to this...
Thanks for your time and support so far!
I see. Yeah, I've started a ton of projects that I had to abandon. It's a hard decision, but also necessary if it's not turning out the way you wanted. No worries, I think that is part of game development.
