fire7side I got some free trees on the internet that should work. The model skeleton is almost attached so I can start on the walk cycle. This is in Godot instead of in Blender. I plan on using a building addon for Blender for the buildings.
fire7side Going to have kind of corny monsters with weird abilities. I've been reading up a little and might try behavior trees for them. The player has a walk cycle so I'll be working on the 3rd person controller next. I think I'll be doing the terrain in Blender.
fire7side Experimenting with some texturing and mountains. The flat shading gets a little boring. Still working on the 3rd person controller.
fire7side trizZzle Thanks, yeah it's a bug monster. The monsters will talk and there will be good and bad ones.
fire7side This is the character with a walk animation. I still need game pad control, but I think I'll work on dialog first.
fire7side Game with speech bubble from Dialog Manager. The next thing is to work on gameplay, which will consist so far as stealth, crafting, and fetch quests. I think I'm going to start with stealth. Making a sort of town with different vertical and horizontal levels and monsters that detect the player in different ways.
fire7side This is a quick mockup to work on the stealth aspect of the game. I'll probably give the character a decent jump and ladder climbing.
fire7side Vid showing character climbing a proposed ladder and jumping on a crate. Little bit of cleanup work and then I can start on stealth with some monsters.
fire7side I've decided to use a basemesh that I downloaded for the characters. It should save me some time instead of starting from scratch and be easier to animate. I'm currently working on navigation for the monsters.
kuligs2 fire7side you can check out here https://www.blender.org/download/demo-files/ they update things here and you can get them for free and license is good.
fire7side kuligs2 Unfortunately, it's high poly and if I decimate, I lose quads. I can see why they did it that way so sculpting is easier, I just prefer low poly. Not super low, just kind of PS2 type models. Who knows, I might change my mind, though.
kuligs2 fire7side you could remesh either with https://github.com/ksami/QRemeshify inside blender or with external tool Dont be afraid with the last commit being 10 years ago, app still works even on windows11. I sometimes use it to make quads out of complex dirty models. https://github.com/wjakob/instant-meshes
